Default Is it necessary to run same WG spring pressure on dual WG setup with boost controller

Might be a dumb question but is it necessary to run the same psi spring pressure on a dual wasgate setup? Boost will be controlled by manual boost controller. I'm running dual Tial V44 gates one spring is a large green spring (11.603 psi) and the other gate has a large blue spring (13.053 psi). I'm going with 18#'s or more.

My guess is that they should be the same. If one starts to open before the other, you'd think it could affect the other opening. However, if it does it consistently, might not be an issue. Again, this is only a guess.

The way I understand it since I'm running a boost controller lets say @ 18#'s that's when the gates start to open at the same time right?

Id say yes. One would just open quicker than the other? Fraction of a second. I guess if you were over the rate of both springs it wouldn't matter. If you tried to run low boost, maybe then you'd see problems with control. I'm still guessing. Take my answers with a grain of salt.

I'm tracking on what you are saying, did order a large blue spring from tial but compared to the large blue spring that's on the wastegate it's a lot taller but the diameter is the same on the new blue spring. The v44 is discontinued but from what I understand it uses the same spring as the f38 v60

You'll need the same springs. because you'll have the same pressure on one side of the diaphragm (from the boost controller), but different spring pressure holding it closed.

and remember, no matter the controller, the controller can't open the gates below spring pressure - if I understand it correctly.

I have one tial 38mm waste gate and one Chinese tial knock off 38mm wastegate. They have 2 different springs in them and it's fine with my manual boost controller unhooked it makes a flat 7psi. I don't remember what springs they where I think one is yellow and the other is red. Been this way for 4 years and 3 different motors

It's not a dumb question as such...but it would be incredibly dumb to do that with your wastegates.

Typically I would agree with you 100%, and usually am very picky when it comes to things like that. I don't see a problem as long as the spring pressure is close to one another. Like within .2-.3 bar. Just because 2 springs have yellow paint on them does not mean there identical. there is always gonna be some give or take between 2 wastegates even with placement. One waste gate is gonna open a split second sooner than the other it's really not a big deal
