Default 7.0 .. 427 ... where are the limits ?

Soooo .. I finish the paint on this car today and owner says take it for a rip ..
Very fast car .. no doubt ... 505hp Z06 is no joke ... but I see that motor at 6-8 lbs being really fun.
Thoughts ???

Lots of variables, but if done right it should hold up reasonably well. But dont expect miracles.

ls7 has thin sleeves, I think if looking for >750whp most people pull them and sell them before they blow up so they can recoup the money.

After reading about them on the Corvette forum https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...ck-limits.html
I see where looking for a used one to build for boost would be a huge cost even after buying the motor .
Just doesn't make sense unless starting with a aftermarket block.

I'd start by changing the valves if its stock. They're known for dropping valves and breaking the head of valves off.

So question. What makes this 427's walls any thinner than an after market aluminum block?

GM designed the block to do what it needed n/a, nothing more.

Any aftermarket block will have thicker liners and probably of a stronger material as the whole point of such a product is to be stronger.

I think any engine in the world should have enough safety factor engineered into it to accept +/- 1/3 of an atmosphere.

You might drive to sea level, or slightly below it, for some reason.
