Default 7665 turbo with stock 5.7

I know the tubine side is small for a 5.7,but came into an old Turbo Technologies f body kit,and this turbo came with it.want to put this on my 98 ss,A4 conversion.not looking for huge #s,would be happy with 500rwhp or so.only mods are a ported TB and LS6 intake,so stock engine.
has anyone ran a similar combo?

Yes its been done. No not by me. Used to be a popular turbo, stick it on the car it should make 500 with the right fuel system and tune easy. But it is small,
Which is not what she said.

lol.
got a good deal on kit,I think anyway.
in the meantime I've been learning as much as I can, never messed with forced induction before.
knew the turbo was small but have since learned the 65mm turbine will hold it back more than I thought.
figured this would be good to start with, don't have a lot of money in all the parts (relatively speaking).

It's not going to hold back much at 500 rwhp. It's cheap, spools fast and can support 600 rwhp, more than enough for a SBE LS1.

Easy to upgrade to a 78/75 once the rest of the car is up to it.

kind of what i was thinking.start with this, find an iron block 4.8/5.3 and start gathering parts for the next build.
I like the power curve to come on early in a street car, even at the expense of top end power,to a point anyway.soo much more fun to drive on the street.
this is my 3rd LS car.got out of the hobby a few years, then felt the itch again and bought my current SS.
lot of miles on it but unmolested and in excellent shape.had some parts on hand, put those on and took it to an open dyno day a year ago.I was blown away by the power guys were making since I got out of the hobby.
when I started years ago everyone was doing H/C.now turbos and truck motors are the big thing.and spending not a lot more than I did 15 years ago, lol.

I ran one of those turbos for about a year then switched to a 7875 when the right deal came along.
The 7665 is a great DD turbo, yeah the turbine is a little small but it lights off really quickly and has great tip in throttle response which for a driver I really liked.
Whats great is you can simply bolt in a 7675 later and make even more power on less boost, little laggier but not enough to care lol.

As bad as smallish turbines are for racing, they are great for street driving. Insta-spool puts a smile on anyone's face. Like others have said, when you want to upgrade, there are direct fit larger turbos that will give a healthy top end kick once you have everything sorted.

With a T56 mine was a tire frying bitch, it was great lol.
The T7875 is a little slower to spool but makes way more power up top, also awesome.
