Default Winter upgrades?

What should I do to my car this winter? It’s a 6.0 in a nova running ten psi of boost. Best pass before I broke the driveshaft was 10.3 at 130 leaving on 3ish psi. I want a new intake honestly just purely for looks but I’m trying to wrap my head around if I get a new intake should I go rectangular Port 823 head while I’m at it? I already plan on adding meth and turning it up a little bit to say 16-18 pounds but if I get a decent power gain from better head flow and intake I may not turn it up to much. What does everyone think I should do, I’m open to all opinions!!!

I wasn’t even thinking about heads till I saw Richard Holdners video comparing 317 and 823 heads, and the gains it made.

Turn up what you’ve got! 10 pounds to 18 pounds is going to be a huge difference.

If I turn up what I have with a better flowing head and intake since I plan on changing the intake anyways, the gains should be better in theory. My plan is to get the Holley high ram as of right now, but I’m not 100% on which intake yet

Its going to be up to you to draw the line. Better heads, better intake, better cam, different turbo, changing converters, etc. the list goes on and on. That’s the part of the addiction that’s so hard to shake.

The motor has a BTR 225-231 turbo cam in it. The converter is fairly tight. I can only foot brake it to 2400ish but I have a trans break so that helps. Like I said I’m ditching the truck intake for something that looks nice and hopefully a little power gain up top but I’m not overly worried about that. Does anyone know what I need to do to get a 4 bolt DBW throttle body to hook up to the 3 bolt DBW throttle body harness I have now. Mine looks like it’s got an 8 pin plug on it(I haven’t looked in a while).

Intake swap is a waste. Your converter is likely way too tight and could pick up significantly. I'd also turn it up like suggested and if you're looking to blow money there's always a better turbo.

I want to change the intake for the under hood looks for the car if I made any gains I’d be happy as long as I don’t loose power

Honestly the engine will lose torque due to the intake. I know from personal experience. When I first put my lsx376 in I had an ls9 cam and the Holley high ram. It was weak bottom end. I changed the cam and tuned like crazy. still saggy on the bottom end and weak just driving around. Felt like a 4.8 not a 6.2. I changed back to the ls3 intake and damn it was way better. My engine has progressed to the point it can now use the high ram but its more race car then street car these days. I'd stick with the truck intake or a tbss intake if you can find one. It looks cool but it will suck when someone with a truck intake kicks your butt cause the high ram isn't suited for your combo. Hell do a fast or the msd air force if you just have to have a cool intake. That doesn't even get into the heat soak I had from driving the damn thing around during the summer. The high ram doesn't even come into its own till your letting off the throttle most likely. Just my opinio n but there are better places to spend 650 bucks on.

I’m not 100% on the high ram but I am on changing the intake, It’s more for looks than any big gains. It’s part of the vision I have for the car. Once I get the Engine bay how I want it to look I’ll move on to paint next winter. I do like of the LSXRT intake. I’ve thought about trying to find a shaved Tbss intake as well. I shift my motor at 66-6800 rpm

There are guys running low 8's on stock truck intake and cleaned up heads. Focus your efforts and $ elsewhere.

Lol oh I’m turning it up, once I get a meth kit this winter. I still want to change the intake for something better looking this winter as well though. Back to the original question better flowing heads should make more power right???

rectangle ports and intake cost for 30 hp? A turn of the boost controller costs nothing. I’d leave the heads.

On paper the better head should make more power, but it may not accelerate you the fastest. It is the difference of racing dynos vs racing a track, and lot of people know how proven the truck intake and cathedrals are. I am finishing my first FI injected build and bought into this program myself. In the end you need to follow your priorities and adjust from there. Good Luck
