Default turbo nova weight.

got my all steel 70 nova on some scales today and thought id post up what I'm dealing with the car is all steel even hood . full interior, heater, inner fenders 100% complete nova. has a iron lq4 with s480 turbo powerglide and 8.5 10 bolt and 6 pt cage. weighs 3292 without me in it and 3500 with me with 54.3% on the front. last year I added a 100 lbs in the trunk and it hooked better

where should I be 52/48 ?it is a slapper bar car runs high 9s. slippery track 27 by 11.5 quick time pro's. thanks.

Interesting, I thought it would be heavier, hope my 74 is within 200 lbs of that. I will have to gut the big bumpers, they add about 750 lbs, lol.
I was going to weigh my turbo, IC'er, and all the plumbing just to see how much total was added to the front.

yeah thats pretty light. my 77 c10 is 3450 empty---which surprised me

lots of weight to lose in the bumper, hood, especially the radiator core support. GM made those out of like 10ga lol

My 69 had full interior (no heat/AC), all steel except hood, no inner fenders, Checkered racing front subframe (worst thing I've done to the car), stock multi leafs with caltracs, 8.8" rear, 18" wheels, aluminum block with S480, double layer Dynamat on the floor and firewall, full tank of gas. 3100 without me in it.

Since then I've switched to 15" wheels and mono leafs and I'm going to say it should be right at 3000 lbs.

Hopefully the fiberglass bumpers, new core support, and swapping over to slicks will get it down to around 3000 with me in it.

it was lighter than I thought as well. but still front heavy. and the battery is in the trunk.

My buddy has owned 3 all steel 68-72 Novas back when he was racing. All had a BBC, 12 bolt full interior, steel wheels and either a 4-spd or auto and they were all within 50 pounds of 3500 with him in it. He was about 200lbs.

My all steel (besides hood) weighed in at 3460 with me in it and a 35 lb toolbox in the trunk I forgot to take out. That’s an iron block 5.3, 475 t4, th400, 12 bolt, bench seat, inner fenders, oem fuel tank (full) steel bumpers, etc. It’s all there. I’m 180, so 3280 without me. Haven’t had it on four corner scales yet, but it’s on the agenda.

that is about right . your trans weighs more than my glide but my hood is steel. yours has a better % front to rear I bet.

That's a little nose heavy but not bad. What problems do you have hooking? I would not want to add ballast especially with those tires, it should hook.

I'm building a 70 Nova with a twin turbo 5.3. No intercooler aftermarket subframe 8.8 mono's glass bumpers hood and deck. Pretty much whatever isn't needed is gone. 12 pt. bar no interior. If my scales are correct its 2510. About the only thing not on the car yet is lexan windows and very little wiring on the lights. I have done pretty much everything I can to make it light as possible.

ditch the inner fenders, fiberglass hood, aerospace front brakes.... lots more weight you can lose... but hell already in the 9's... Love your Nova bud.

thanks. I hate to take it apart as it is a lot of fun at the track. it idles dead smooth and has the look of a 13 sec car.and when I dial 6.40 in the 1/8 they all look at me like I lost my mind when running brackets

I wouldn't touch that car, just add horsepower if you want to go faster, lol
Maybe Cal Tracks, shocks, just suspension work.

if I lighten it at all it will be a ls3 based 416 aluminum engine cough cough... 100+ lbs off the nose.
