pure budget is a concern.... I think welding and doing a different than existing sump on here will cost more than just buying a 100.00 fuel cell that is already sumped... Car owner doesn't want to lose existing tank though.

So what do yall think?
i think u will find yourself running out of fuel....on novas when the tank is mounted they angle upwards in the front....the sump should be on the back edhe of the tank, also under acceleration fuel will be pushed back.....i had a sump in one of my last tanks

Just another Friday night in the shop

got an L33 5.3 on the stand waiting for cam and gapping rings to go back together with ARP head bolts, new ls7 lifters, ls1 mls gaskets etc for my 72

Coldside all plumbed up

Turned out pretty good

Hotside all wrapped up and looking good now... DEI heat wrap

Started the wiring process... I loomed up and ran my fuel pump feed wire to engine harness relay and my negative battery ground to cylinder head along with figuring out where the harness is coming through the firewall and rough spot for ecu mounting etc

We were going to re mount his fuel tank, but somehow his sending unit was snapped off as pictured...

Project is really coming together now... after 2 weeks off of not touching got back on it.

Got the Siemens Deka 80lb'ers installed and got the Ls1 style IAT installed in the intake

ICT Billet makes a cool adapter kit with about 8-10 pieces for the entire engine @ 39 bucks... When I was doing my 1st build, I had to buy just the oil sender adapter from autometer for like 15.00. The temp sensor adapter to mechanical gauge will fit good on the passenger side. It is definitely nice to have good aftermarket options.

Oil feed ran off the back of the sender w the ICT adapter

Intake final mounted and I had to extend a number of injectors due to limited harness routing options lol... We will have a nice custom engine cover on this one. Hotside looks good wrapped... can't even see my welds

So really getting down to it here and hope to have this running soon. Waiting on some an line and fittings to plumb out the rest of the fuel system, need to figure out radiator hoses etc, finish up some more wiring, and do finished assembly on everything.

Plumbing and assembling this weekend...

I get all of my AN hose and fittings from a Speed Shop in Virginia called Performance Dynamics. This stuff is quality for a good price and gets here in 2 days.
Turbo oil feed

turbo final mounted, oil drain / feed on and plumbed, starter in and wired up, all harness connections that needed extension on and plugged up, and not too much left to do here.

Need to finish plumbing the rear of the fuel system and wire up pump, interior harness, wire up boost controller, setup vacuum lines, setup wastegate, weld up and make his downpipe

Finished plumbing up the fuel system. This is a budget build so we are making what he had on the car work. His stock tank was sumped and we plumbed the fuel pump so that the inline unit doesn't have to "pull" fuel, but only push.

I have to finish wiring up the engine harness to 12V ignition, wiring up and fusing the boost controller power sources, wiring up the 0-5v output for the wideband to datalog in HP tuners pro software, and figuring out where to mount everything neatly under the dash. Also have to mount the drive by wire pedal using some sort of adapter we will make and install the tac module & harness.

Will be getting the base tune into it soon after finishing up the list of items and then some shakedown before adding a Methanol injection kit and dyno tune. Excited to see how things go.

This is my 1st time tuning w hp tuners pro and it is going relatively well. I started with plenty of files to compare to as well.

Got it idling smooth tonight. Converted the Operating System to 2bar, failed the maf, injector data in, ve table adjusted, idle air flow copied from known data on the sloppy stage 2, and I kept dialing back fuel between 20 and 70 kpa up to 1200 rpm.

Well you know with Holley or MS Gold Box etc you get a bit more bells and whistles, but pay more etc... Those can do fancy boost cut control etc

I like HP Tuners and for a noob like me it hasn't been too bad. Using youtube how to videos and the compare feature I have been able to get it to a 2 bar operating system for up to 15lb boost, figured out how to fail the maf, tune the VE/fueling tables etc, learned to tune for idle (still working on it), and we were able to drive it.

The bullet fender dump won't be obnoxiously loud in car, but outside it will be just right haha... I love hater pipes though, I miss mine on my 72. I ended up running my exhaust back and down.

With some assistance on the tune got it driving reliably on the street. We are going to install a snow performance methanol injection kit, clean up some wiring, and then put some miles on it before hitting the rollers sometime next month.

Got some results... it made 510 wheel hp on dyno @ 9lbs of boost , but we had a problem.... it was a long dyno tuning session in 95 degree NC heat... hotside pipe cracked @ a reducer point from 3 inch off our "log" to 2.5 to the merge.... Had to shut things down then, but project is safely tuned to 9lbs with ALOT more in it.

Hoping to fix the hotside this weekend. Most of the pipe we used was from columbia river mandrel or speedway j bends , but this transition reducer piece was from Pep Boys ..... I am thinking that I will sheath it and brace it then weld r up... We want to retain same positioning and all.

Hope to return to the dyno soon.

Good first outing-were you using meth or just pump gas. At least you have some figures
to work with.
