I share successes and setbacks....
So after fixing the hotside (cause of big boost leak) we took the car for a spin. I didn't know and wasn't told that additional wastegate spring and boost controller duty cycle had been added. My buddy was told by the tuner, but didn't mention to me.... we made a pull and it maxed out the 2bar map and I estimate it made around 22lbs of boost.
Pulled it today
only bent rod is #2... I do think the piston skirt did clearance itself some against the crank thou
bores all look good
We are going to swap the cam and good stuff over to an LQ9 that I picked up last week just in case...

very familar .....when i 1st put my nova together 6.0 sbe the boot controller was messed up and i saw low 20's boost on 1st couple of pulls , same thing happend bent a rod .....but boy oh boy did she go
.
looks like gen 3 rods? after my episode i would not want to push gen 3 stuff much past 12psi.....( i know some guys do but im sure they are much better tuners than me...lol)

The good things with our LS stuff is a short block is on almost every corner street for a few hundred bucks.... but the JOB tough!! .
Oh well i guess. Its part of the fun.
hang in there and keep us in the loop man,

So I ended up selling him my 5.3 L33 shortblock. We got the rings gapped .026 .028, Holley oil pan and pickup back on, cam installed, lifters in, and pretty much ready to get the heads on and drop this thing in this weekend. Budget is a concern here and I ended up keeping the 799 heads off the L33 for the future and he will be using his 317 heads with straub trunnion/pac1218s already installed. I believe this will put compression in the 9.4 range. I know some folks say it hurts the low end power curve running the 317's on the 5.3's, but with th400 and 4.11 gears I think it won't be noticeable on the street.

Lights off too hard in my car and traction becomes a problem on the street... I have motive 3.25 pro gear's coming lol. The 69 Nova is out of budget for awhile so no gearing change.
