Default Regular truck to TBSS intake

So my brother in law had a TBSS intake sitting on a shelf at his shop. He said it’s mine if I wanted it, rails and all. I swapped over my 80# injectors and revamped my throttle cable brackets. Took it for a spin, same tune and all and the difference is unreal! Way more torque, way more seat of the pants power under the same boost and just drives better. I’ll pull a datalog shortly and try and give some numbers based on fuel usage. Well worth the change IMO.

What throttle body did you go with?

Thanks for the feedback!

Cool man, I just picked up one of those intakes today myself.

The intake I got is square port and the engine in my turbomachine is cathedral port. I'm guessing it would be unwise to use a square port intake ontop of cathedral port heads?

The TBSS's I've worked on had cathedral port heads 243's or 799's. What were the square port heads/intake on?

Ive got 4 of these intakes on the shelf, just been waiting for Denmah to see if its worth it. 40 wheel basically everywhere is definitely worth it, now i just need the time.

Matt used an ebay 92mm TB, he said next he wants to put the stock 3 bolt on with an adapter and see if it kills power or what. Thats the next part im waiting to see

I was going to say you must need to run an adapter with the 3 bolt TB.

And Chase, I wouldn’t run the square port intake on cathedral heads.

use the adapter and the 78mm truck TB. the bigass china 4 bolt dbc TB absolutely decimates any sort of throttle resolution. highly doubt it's worth more than a couple ponies.

I believe thats my plan of action, i have 2 other vehicles i plan to swap to that intake and they are both DBW so the adapter seems like the easiest solution there also

Wanna sell me one of your cathedral port versions of this intake? You don't need 4 for 1 engine

Yeah I think the turbulence from doing such a thing would negate any benefit.

The TBSS and genIV truck intake is the highest flowing stock cathedral intake GM made. Great piece

Easy to spot with the 4 bolt TB

It's a 4 bolt 90 opening, with a Gen III intake design

Dumping old stock maybe? Regardless time for a part number reminder for those looking for one. Reminiscent of the LS6 intake, many early LS1 intakes with no egr were passed off as an LS6 but were not. The flat bottom is the tell on those but the part number never lies and is the safest way to ensure your getting the right part.

Always something new to learn, on it goes
