proper shipping methods need help
"To be more specific, it has been one month and 2 days since I rejected the shipment.
One month since I followed up with Thompson and was told it was authorized for return.
Three and a half weeks since the shipper verified it was still not approved by Thompson Motorsports and was still here in town at the hub.
Two and a half weeks since Thompson Motorsports signed return packing slip that it arrived back on their dock.
Where is the customer service?"
I probably get a trashed shipment twice a year.. Typically about 4 weeks end to end to handle it unless
I push the vendor and get replacement shipped out express. (Sometimes I'm ahead of the game and a
couple/few weeks doesn't matter. )
Nov to June is the big season of engine shops, they are swamped, the better they are the more swamped they are..
I've been on both sides of the auto-sports sales process, screw-ups are painful for all. Nobody runs a business without
the occasional oops..
The motor left here just like more that 5000 others have with shipping into all 50 states and 9 countries I truly believe the packaging is more than adequate.
It has taken longer than I would like as well as the OP to process the refund due to the delays with UPS. I wish we could have done more. In any case it is done now and I apologize for the inconvenience.

If was dropped from any height it would have suffered some kind of external damage and that crate wouldn't have just one side loose. What is more likely is that it was hit with a fork when they were putting the next pallet on the trailer. They try to put them as close as possible to each other to keep them from moving around. If the forklift driver misjudged how far his for was sticking out past the pallet he was bring in he could easily hit the crate and knock the side loose. delivered freight for a time and also worked on the docks...it happens regularly but doesn't always end up with damage. I've actually delivered engines to Napa that were only shrink wrapped and banded to a wood pallet, No side or top for protection.
If it's not in a crate no one is going to stack anything on top of it. Shipped by Fastenal btw.
