Synonym for blowing through, running over the converter. Was it a hot day when these passes were made? Surprised it didn't trap higher @ 950rwhp. By no means ******* the car/passes, just making an observation.

It was mid 60's out... Going to add more tranny fluid and give it a whirl, dip stick showed full but was told by a friend that had the same build prior that its not accurate. I have a manual shift 4L80

It’s gunna fly when you get it sorted out. 144 first day out on the footbrake is no joke I’d say!

I was one grouping behind you during one of your passes. It looked pretty violent mid track. The car tried to do one of those turbo car involuntary lane changes

My first turbo outing went a lot like yours. Rpm's never dropped. Sent the converter to PTC and all good now.

How much slip did you have?
Was it dyno'd locked?

You need to get the right converter in the car. The only time you can hear it shift(barely) is 1-2 and even there it sounds like the turbo is just starting to come alive when you shift. Then it just lays on the converter the rest of the pass. That car will fly once you get the converter tightened up. Only other thing it could be would be the trans slipping but I'm pretty sure it would have eaten itself up on one pass if it was slipping that bad.

Ive been talking to Lonnie over at Extreme Performance who built my trans, he wants me to check the trans pressure, so ill do that end of the week. I shouldn't even need 4th gear from what i was told, but yeah every time i would shift it be in the 7K range telling me to shift. So, hoping that nothing is damaged and its just either from low pressure and the verter was slipping.

if the pressure was low enough to make it sound like that, then I'm sure the intermediates and directs are without question fried.

maybe so.. but ill still verify pressure. If its fried then im definitely done for the year. Maybe 200 miles on it and 6 track passes, there went 5 grand.

I'd recommend studying up, and asking questions if you have to, on how to rebuild a 4L80e if it is indeed hurt. That would save you about $4500 or more, if you really did spend 5 stacks on your transmission. Only a suggestion btw.

Wish i had the tools and know how about transmissions but I dont. Not sure why you would question about how much i paid for it, here it is for ya to see.

Not trying to slam you man. Sometimes we (myself included), tend to exaggerate a bit. The only "specialty" tool you need, and if you just had to you could still get it done without it is, a piston compressor. That, and a $4.00 set of picks from harbor freight ..... and you are in business. Don't feel bad, I felt the same way about transmissions, I thought as soon as you open one up...a billion parts would come Flying out. But no, that's not the case... and it really isn't all that bad. If cash is a problem, you may want to look into it. As long as no hard parts are hurt, you can do it yourself for next to nothing when you compare it to $5,000. The transmission section on here can help you through your build.

Yea i was the same way with my first trans i rebuilt. Just keep track of where thrust washers etc go. Pull it down in sections layed out makes it easier. Not tht bad to do at all. Get a good manual as well.

I remember seeing your car there... you were flying!

One of the passes it did go towards the wall, was the first time at the track since i built it, kinda caught me off guard.
