Default Turbo G-body

Hey guys I'm going to be starting my turbo 6.0 LQ4 build soon and id like some clarification on a few things. Right now I have a E85 3.8 stock block GN that's making around 600rwhp on the rollers at moderate boost, but ive caught the LS bug because I want newer technology and more power/reliability.

The plan:
6.0 LQ4 block/stock crank
Wiseco boost pistons
Molnar turbo rods
untouched 243's
LS9 gaskets
stock rockers w/Trunion upgrade
LS7 lifters (w/new trays)
LJMS cam kit
holley sniper intake w/95mm TB
holley turbo manifolds
______ turbo

Fuel/tuning
Currently running a magnafuel 4303 -10 from cell to -8 dual feed fuel rail and magnafuel adj FPR w/ -6 return. I am currently running 160lb injectors and would like to just buy 2 more lol. The car runs on pump e85 100% street car tuned w/fast XFI and controlled with a boostleash.

Now.... the car is a fuel interior street car and I want to keep it that way. Its not light, but not super heavy prob. 33-3400 lbs with the heater delete/fiberglass bumpers/ fuel cell/ alumastar wheels. I want to refrain from going all out, but I'm stuck on turbo choice. Would a cast s480 be enough to push the car into the 8s? I hear a lot of dyno numbers but less talk about times. I don't care what the car does on what dyno, but id like an 8sec capable turbo that is street friendly. I like the s491 with the sub $2000 price tag is a bit much at this point in the game... better turbo choice out there?

Also what are you guys paying for block work and short block assembly? The 6.0 has a bit of surface rust from sitting, but the cross hatching is gone and may need a good hone....

what transmission? you can probably get there on 160s

going with an LJMS cam? i'd call him up and get both the cam and turbo from him.

Personally I really like the numbers the billet s485 puts up with the 96mm turbine and 1.32 a/r exhaust. I would build around that if I started again.

that's probably a good move. you got all the right parts, sounds like you did your research. maybe someone like dbrods will chime in?

fwiw i really wanted to be a GN guy but I couldn't afford them even back in 98-99.

I pored over GMHTP like an 80's kid would have looked at hustler lol

haha I found The car as a roller in a barn blown up and beginning to part out. I sold A clean running 86 monte SS to fund it. It’s been a 6 year journey just getting it right lol
