yeah I adjusted the hell out of mine. Actually broke the first one---couldnt get a replacement diaphragm---and bought one from ali express. It was the exact same unit lol I bet i could fingerprint them both and come up with the same 12 year chinese girl 
It just rattles badly at idle, i'd adjust it and it'd be fine for a few days and begin to rattle again. My guess is the preload spring gets hot and looses uh, springyness
Added a random spring from a carburetor spring kit and it's enough I don't hear it so I'm cool.
That is a neat fix you came up with tho.
