forced induction Question...

hey , i have one question , my dads willing to drop 2000 tops on a forced induction unit for me, and only 2000 on the thing. im just wondering if its possible at alll , maybe get a turbo that can be pritty easily mounted on the engine. my dads a mechanic and a few other thigns does body work and all that , so i am wondering if there is one used or something that i can get it and run the thing on a engine with stock internals.

IMO i think it is going to be pretty hard to get a turbo or a SC for an LS1 for under 2k on an LS1.

Well that will buy you a large single or a pair of twins probably non ball bearing.... No way to mount or use them however...

If you want something easily mounted on the engine save and get a supercharger...

well the best thing that I could reccomend is to get some 6.0 manifolds and fab up something like what mike brown did on that formula. You have enough money for a decent intercooler and a nice turbo

that wont get you a turbo or blower system but it could get you a kickass N20 setup with all the goodies.

$2000 you will be the man to get a running FI setup for that...

My setup is under that cost, but has taken me about 1 year to piece together with pre-raced parts. bought from 6 different people on this board, and ebay

the only setup i know of for that price, is a used powerdyne for about $1500 or so, then tuning.

I don't think you have a hope in hell of building a quality FI setup for anywhere near $2K. I would say $6-10K would put you in the ball park.

Items not to forget:
-- Injectors
-- Possible fuel system upgrade
-- Tuning (this alone can be $500)
-- Spark Plugs (TR6's for example)
-- Gauges (boost and fuel gauges can be $350-400)
-- Thermostat
-- Clutch

The list goes on and on. For $2K you would probably be much better off with a cam + N20 setup.
