SO I have been looking at engine and transmission packages to use in my Mercedes used. What do you guys think of a 2018 Cadillac Escalade , the 6.2 & 10L80?
Ten speed replacing a five speed auto. Thinking I can add some power down the road, goal is 600 whp. ???

Sounds very cool - a 10sp haha.... weight aside (230lbs). You may find ultimate power capability compromised with the 10L80 with little aftermarket support. They're rated at 800nm or 590ft/lb - perfect for 600rwhp NA. But if you want to go to power adders then torque will exceed the trans capacity. The 10L90 (only avail in the ZL1) can take 900NM (663ft/lb) but even that is baby tq for a decent twin turbo and they'd be hard to come by. Specs on the 10L80 10L80 Trans Specs

If you want to future proof the car for later turbos - you need the older 8L90 - 219lb (less than the older 6L90) and rated at 1000nm (738ft/lb). That's the one to get if you think you may want more TQ later.... and you will lol 8L90 Trans Specs Still has a nice spread of ratios allowing a nice tall rear diff or cruise rpms, also has a nice small TQ converter at 258mm.

BAZMAN,
Once again the collective IQ of car lovers share their knowledge. Thanks for going easy on me its clear I have a lot to learn.
Thanks again for your input. Some day I'll get this project going !!! These days driving my $100 dollar 2000 Chevy Cavalier is
as good as it gets LOL. My good friend bought this car for his daughter. One day I saw under the hood the coolant
expansion tank cap didn't look right. I told him but he didn't think it was a big deal. Well 2 days later the car overheated and
popped a head gasket, hence my $100 car was born. Needless to say I fixed it and am using the car until I get my car running.
Merry Christmas !!!!!!

LOL. Look forward to seeing this project come alive - that car begs for a twin turbo LS3/7. 700rwhp/tq and it'll make you smile everytime you drive it.... make sure you add in a Wavetrac diff though or the smile might become more of a frown lol.
