Ya if I was stuck driving an auto with a low rev limit I may as well get out and walk... be about as much fun.
Shenanigans. Beating on a car on the street and the track for years, with a stock 4L60E, drag radials, and >500WHP proves it is capable of surviving and still having fun. Yes 11's is slow....but not all cars are setup for the track or care to be setup for the track. Walk if you want I'll be driving

You aren't beating on it that bad if you aren't revving over 6500 with single digit boost. I have IRS street cars... they are never setup for the track but I at least want them to get out of their own way!

I've seen it said around here that a 4L60 will withstand 800+whp, so long as it's 100% billet everything, including case...pan and all.

Considering people break them with Bolton's I would say drag radials and 500+whp isn't exactly being kind to it. Maybe people just severely underestimate them...then again there's alot of blown ones so there's something there. Rpm isn't the only way to break one.

With the cubic dollars it takes though you can have a 400 that'll withstand 2000hp. Not trying to add fuel to the fire but thankfully the trans tunnel in these cars doesn't need to be butchered for whatever option you choose.

I would be completely at ease with pulling my 400, changing nothing but the forward drum, and put it behind ANYTHING I could ever afford to put in front of it. I have the utmost faith in the 400. And id only have about $1300 in the entire transmission.

I think your issues will probably be the axles and 2 piece driveshaft from what I've heard.

Stock axles will go 9’s a couple times then the splines start to twist. Driveshaft is trouble, people either blow the carrier bearing or twist the actual tube. So yes both are things to keep in mind when trying to get power to hookup in 4k lb cars.
