I am leaning towards the ls9 cam that I have instead of the TU1.5. Input on this cam with a built 5.3, 10.5:1, e85, the twin 6162 turbos, and all the boost? Picking up the shortblock saturday morning!

You pick up the car yet?
Find out if the engine is ok?

Yes, had the car for a while now. Forged LC9 shortblock is done. Haven't picked it up yet. Got the head gaskets today. Have everything else to finish the engine. Gonna get it running NA, and see how the 6l80e is. Then someone can hopefully buy it before I pull it.

Any input on the cams and springs above? And how will the vs 6162's spool on a 5.3? I am kind of spoiled now with the instaspool of the vs7875 and lq4 in my truck.

Putting the engine together and trying to get it in the car this long weekend. The engine has .0028 main clearance, and .0024 rod. The engine was originally DOD. I have a melling 10296 pump. Which spring should I use?

Also, do I leave the oil pressure relief in the pan or plug it? If I leave the high pressure spring in the pump, the relief in the pan will regulate it to 55?

I used the high pressure spring that came installed in my melling pump (in my L92) and plugged the PRV in the pan. With similar clearances I see 65 psi cold idle and 40ish driving around at operating temp.

Thanks for the info. I did pick up a short m14x1.5 drain plug and an aluminum washer. I will install it unless I hear otherwise.

good plan, I’ve always heard that you want 10 psi oil per 1000 rpm so 55 lbs at 7k+ didn’t make sense. That was my logic on the whole thing. Seems to be working. Cool build btw.

Thanks,

Might have some time to work on the car this weekend. I can also get real good deals on Garrett turbos. I have the ls9 cam installed with pac 1218's at least for now. How would real gt3582r's with t3 .82 housings work with this car. 10.5:1 5.3

Were you using the gt or newer gtx? The gen 2 gtx has +1mm compressor wheel over the gt, but the horsepower rating went up from 525 to 750. I think the turbine wheel and housing stayed the same. I would like to be 1000rwhp capable on a 5.3.

Regular ole gt's for cheap. Not sure what trans you plan on using but if its the stock auto it'll blow well before you get to 1000.

Yep. I already had a jakes 4l80e in the garage, so I found a guy that makes crossmembers to get them in a g8/ppv. But now I am looking at 6l90's. I am going to get it running na with the stock 6l80 so somebody can see how the trans works, and sell it.

They are multiplying. First pic is my car before taking parts from the parts car next to it. The other car is pretty nice and "should" just need a dod delete. Second pic is my car mostly back together next to the ltd that will probably get the parts car drivetrain.

After seeing how much the car needs, I am just going to do vs 6162's and my 4l80. At least for now...

Havent had any time to work on the car. It is very close to running (hopefully) NA. I do have the vs gt3582's and the agp turbo adapters. I was looking on craigslist for a 3.27 camaro diff to upgrade when I found a complete wrecked engineless 2013 ZL1. So now I have a 6l90, complete rear cradle and diff, big brakes, front seats, who knows what else. I thought it was to good to be true, but the guy actually delivered it for a really good deal.
