Default Turbo build, round two!

I'm baaaack!! lol 😁
So I'v decided to join the ranks of front mounted turbo cars. switching up some stuff and am ready start really breaking some stuff lol
If anyone been around long enough knows I'm an avid rearmount guy. Ran rear mount for almost 7 years... and no before anyone chimes in, it didnt blow up and and the bottom of the car didnt gwt dragged out by a random speed bump. Want to run a bigger turbo and want to try a different setup. still got plenty of life in the old ls1. And still got love for rear mounts. it's been a solid setup and fun to drive.
So the only thing thatthats really forced my desicion is that my scavenger pump finally died. took a really cold day to finally kill it. in my garage... oil all over my floor lol was a great time. so here we are. front mout time.
So I've got some stuff to do. I've got a set of 317 heads still laying around and ls9 gaskets that im really wondering if i want to change out. if I do that i have head studs and new vavle covers that can go on to up day the old 98 ls1.
still gonna put the on3 t76 .96ar up front if it checks out still BUT!!! I have a gt45 1.05 on standby, controlled by a 50mm Watergate with 10lbs spring. waiting on some other goodies to come in the mail though to really get a start. have to cut the old longtube headers out, ypipe, and rear turbo piping out back. have some piecing together and fab work to do.

CURRENT SETUP
alot lol sorry but it's all in my last post here https://ls1tech.com/forums/forced-induction/1511580-another-rear-mount-build-but-coming-anyway.html

FUTURE SETUP
t76 or gt45
front mount turbo setup/no ac ☹ oh well
50mm Watergate and 10lbs spring
either stock 98 ls1 heads for now or 317 heads still debating.
cxracing intercooler kit
still running 60lb injectors for now
running racetronics 255 kit but looking into the 340 setup.
fuel system will be converted to full return with a dedicated return and automotive boost referenced fuel pressure reg up front.
Looking to make provisions to stand up the radiator
alternator relocation kit
also gonna get the new hptuner to tune it myself this time.
should be an interesting in the coming months.

I was rear mount for a few years and then went front mount. It was the best decision i ever made.

tbh rear mount just sounds like a HUGE waste of time IMO.

Well im ready to see what the difference is. The car ran strong and pulled nice when in boost. I did everything you were suppose to on a rear mount from the bet go. Everything was custom pretty much. The oil issue was the only concern from time to time. Once my scavenger went out and shat oil all over my garage i was ready to make the switch though lol i seriously wasnt even driving. The car had sat for about a month this past Dec, so i thought id warm it up and let it run for a mintue. Come bck an oil was sitting out the tail pipe. No pumpy. Must have finally burnt out from the cold oil. Still had oil in the engine so no worries there.

I'm dedicating my original post to the build up, but as an update, I think I found why the oil pump went out the wiring harness I made for the scavenger melted ti the header somehow after all these years, even on top of the exhaust wrap. it must have grounded out and killed the pump. glad that's all that died.

Good to see you back at it man. Since we last spoke I scrapped the rearmount turbo on my Firebird but I did build a turbo Cutlass. The Cutty is sold now and I am putting twins on my chicken. Let me know if you need any help with the tuning or a second set of eyes. I have spent most of the last five years focusing on that!

Thanks, i was busy for a while and then moved and bought a house so the car stayed in rear mkunt for sometime. I was thinkinh the engine would give out first lol but looks like the scavenger and ac compressor were the only casualties lol other than the trans but that was due to 3 gear letting go finally.
