Default water intercooler

Im doing an engine swap with an LS turbo .
no room for an a2a intercooler , so i have decided to go water , very limited in room for that too it would seem. What are peoples opiniong on mounting the w2a under the front guard ?? this only worries me bcoz if there was a leak or cooler burst , water would go straight the tyre ???

You still have to cool the water by some means. In a race only setup, this involves icing down your water before the run, but in a street setup this involves an additional A/A cooler, so what is the point? Either way, if you don't have room for A/A, you probably don't have room for A/W. As for your tires, if anything leaks (oil, water, antifreeze, fuel) it gets under your tires.

Nah with water I can mount a rear tank and a 24x8" heat exchanger with fans hanging at the rear then just have the cold water pumping to the front.

I thought if engine or trans leaks it's somewhat centered rather than straight under the wheels

i have one hanging behind the front bumper on my silverado. i use a full size radiator i mounted in front of my original one as the coolant reservoir and heat exchanger. It works pretty well but i decided im getting rid of it because its so much more complicated than an air to air setup. pump, lines, exchanger, etc.

Yeah a2a would be my first preference, once my turbo is mounted and crossover on. I'll see exactly what I can fit. But I think it's unlikely.

If anything leaks it sprays everywhere at speed.

My point was you already have a risk of leaking and spraying coolant everywhere. If done right, the risk is the same.

Several posts up I mentioned all of the possible things that could leak in any normal ride. That was my point. If done properly, that is one thing that is a non-issue. If not done properly anything can make your ride a deathtrap.

Sounds like we're saying the same thing
