Some modern Audi's have water cooled alternators. Massive, ******* expensive and utterly stupid lol.

90's caddilacs had them too. try explaining to a customer that his alternator is leaking coolant....always a fun conversation

Alt pulley I'm using measures around 70mm wall to wall at the front, and the sidewalls have decent height.

So actual pulley diameter is around 65mm, or 2.5" or so. So not much larger than standard.

Does a belt slipping on the alternator have anything to do with any of this? 04 silverado 6500 rpm. Drive it nice and its fine. Drive it hard a couple times and there is belt dust all over the exit side of the pulley. New Delco tensioner and gatorback belt same thing.

So if I just order the AD244 170A from those guys and install it....it should live a long time if it sees 3-4 times week hard runs to 6,800rpm.....?

The pulley on mine is larger than standard, so you would need to order whatever you want to order, and pulley sizes etc.

But even an OEM alternator would run quite happily to 6800rpm for quite some time, as the very first unit I ever used did. I seen over 7k quite often with it. Although obviously not very often extended periods at high rpm.

yah i prefer a nice iron oxide coating aka patina aka rust to help the belt stick
