You found the limit of that 1.76 gearset in the glide, which is a stock GM gearset LOL! I ran a stock case 1.76 gear PG in my bracket race car, BBC 800ish HP. I ran on just the 2 barrel portion of my throttle (and not full throttle) body and ran low tens for two reasons (1) I didn't want my 17 year old driver (my son) to go 150 mph and (2) I did not want to break the glide. Made 150 or so passes running 10 flat. Probably made 4 or 5 passes running low 9's but that is it. And the car only weighs 2900 pounds.
Went to a BTE top sportsman glide, 1.82 gear set with aftermarket case and all the goodies. BTE puts them on sale every November for Black Friday Week for 20% off which makes them a very good deal for what you get. Got about 150 low 9 second passes on the BTE glide and it has been flawless.
You could put an aftermarket 1.82 straight cut gearset in a stock case, lots of racers do, and it will hold good power if it is built right. But all stock PG cases are pretty much wore out now so it would be a crap shoot.
Good Luck.

58 psi base with stock rail mount regulators. two of them. I run it like two 4 cylinder engines. two 380 pumps, two 3/8 feeds and two 5/16 return's with a balance tube to keep them equal. I street drive on 1 pump and turn both on at the track. the 2nd pump having a check valve.

Yes, absolutely.
But what you have to watch is the pressure you are requiring from the pumps. All balectric pumps drop flow as pressure increases. So it gets to be a balancing act.
Bigger injectors ease the stress on the pumps.
I have to chuckle a bit.
Looked at the track where you run. Smooth and prepped.
i ran at my local track tonight, first outing this year. I backed it off to 16psi low gear, 19 psi after, pulled to the line to see no prep, and balled up rubber in the groove past the 60ft. I nearly crashed the car.
Tried another pass a bit later, 1.35 60, 9.15@147 car went hard right wheels up never lifted. Y’all ought to come try this.....

yes . I have been there my local track (lapeer) was a old ruff track built in 1968 and they whould spray the first 5 feet. all balled up and nasty. so I set the car up with ladder bar coilover rear and slicks and it whould hook if you set it up to just kill the tires. well it sold last year and the new owner has made it a very nice track all diamond ground concrete for 700 feet . perfect prep. I have yet to have it spin. my only thought is hitting it to hard and breaking the car. so I feel for you ron I have been there for 31 years until they rebuilt.
