Thanks.

Damn. Just removed my cylinder heads and saw this.

Other cylinders looks fine, but this one has some marks. What do you guys think, am i in trouble? This is cylinder number 5. You can just barely feel those scratches, but yes for sure, they feel. And what the h... can cause this? Just one cylinder, others are like new.

Edit. There are similiar marks on the otherside of that cylinder too, but you cant feel those.

Edit2. Found the reason. Block is cracked and that cylinder is oval. Funfun. This build just went 5.3.

I wouldnt have any concerns about a little scuffing like that.

But if you're saying it's cracked....that would be a concern. But lines like that are rarely indicative of a crack.

Water ingress would be though. The piston is perhaps a little clean.....what do the others look like ? How have you determined a crack ?

I dont think that the cylinder wall is cracked, but the block most definitely is. You can see three cracks here.

Hydrolocked bolt i guess? I would have no problem welding those, but it needs to be machined and bore after that, and it would get really expensive to trying to save this i think. Also that cylinder is 0.006" oval and wd40 goes pretty much straight thru to oil pan, so i dont think it has any compression.

I did not. I meant to, but i was too excited so i forgot. I have couple head gaskets, can i just put head on with new gasket, tight it up a little bit with those old bolts and check compression? Or should it be fully tighten? In that case i dont think i can use those bolts anymore.

I guess so. Atleast i will have nicest living room table in a country.

I'll need to find new engine. Only LM7 i found in my country has 155k ml on it and 2000 dollar price tag. A little salty. On the bright side, my dog does dig a lot in my backyard, so maybe he'll find some oil.

Made removable support. Welding holes and smoothing things in my engine bay. I'll get my bumper support tubes hopefully this week.

Curious about some of the specs on your Holset turbo. I'm running damn near the same setup but having trouble maintaining boost pressure up top. What size downpipe and exhaust are you running, and do you know what size turbine and compressor wheels you have on your turbo?

car looks fantastic too, always loved a black ws6.

Given that it may be a paperweight I would just fully tighten it with the old bolts and see what you get. Quick test.

I will get you those specs. All i remember right now is that it does have billet wheel and that huge T6 exhaust housing. 19cm2 i think. There was this gto at some other forum that made 600 or so hp with (if i remember correctly) pretty much same turbo. And some aussie made 700 with hx55. I never had problems with boost, but like i said, i will measure those wheels.

And thanks.

Not sure if i stay with this holset or go bigger with next engine.. Who am i kidding, i will go bigger, we always do.

trying to figure out if my issue is a gate opening, a turbo thats too small, or exhaust too small. I hear you on the bigger turbo though, already pieced together a borg 75mm. Trying to decide if its worth messing with the holset anymore or just putting in the borg. Knowing your wheel sizes will help me know more though and will be appreciated. Thanks

Comp wheel is 67/99 and exh is 76mm. Whats yours? I'm glad if i can help.

And btw my downpipe was 3.5" and splitting to dual 3", but i think those were too small, so i already got 4.5" bends and pipes for next setup.

when I measured mine I got compressor 68/100 and Turbine 70/80. I may have an hx50 turbine housing and wheel on mine which could be the problem.

77/86 is mine, so that could be it.
