Thanks! 😊 Buy a welder and practice! I’m self taught. Lap joints and thick metal is a walk in the park. Getting a pretty bead on thin metal butted up is difficult.

ive used Lincoln’s, nice HTP tigs, Miller. After I left Jardine’s header palace, I bought a Everlast tig with pulse, HF start, dual voltage, all the basic stuff that really makes tig fun/easier. Had it over 5 years and it’s been a great machine. It’s time to upgrade though. Problem is all my money is going into car parts so I can’t really swing dropping $1700 on a new lincoln

Made a little support for the downpipe. Helps locate everything when assembling

Still terrible at welding 😂. But having fun either way

All off for paint and wrap.

Time to pull the motor/trans. Need to put the converter in, drill and tap the pan, put the solid motor mounts in. A friend of mines has a btr blower cam that I’m thinking is going to find it’s way in here as wel 😁

Out she comes the traditional... or non traditional way depending on how you swing lol

Big 3/4 not hole drilled and tapped for oil drain

Turns out the bmr k member engine mounts are welded crooked!

How far off the trans mount is with solid mounts in the bmr k member

Figured I better support the waste gate

Was interesting drilling that big of a hole

Some VHT Flameproof primer

Some flameproof paint

And some exhaust wrap (this stuff is cheap as dirt through frozen boost

Things back together (with gaskets this time)

Put some br7ef plugs in, new Lokar throttle cable...

Doing the oil drain on this puppy with 7/8 OD soft copper. Won’t have any drain issues here!

Rest of the downpipe will get wrapped. I just got sick of the fibreglass

Been a long time since I used it. Iirc it’s works pretty damn well if it gets multiple heat and cure cycles.

Off the vehicle:
  1. Heat to 121°C for 30 minutes.
  2. Cool for 30 minutes.
  3. Heat to 204°C for 30 minutes.
  4. Cool for 30 minutes.
  5. Heat to 343°C for 30 minutes”

Or

On the vehicle:
  • Run at idle for 10 minutes
  • Cool for 20 minutes
  • Run at idle for 20 minutes
  • Cool for 20 minutes
  • Run under normal operating conditions for 30 minutes

I don’t have the patience for the off vehicle procedure right now or a way to do it off the vehicle so we’ll see how it cures on. Since everything is mild steel, I painted in hopes it wouldn’t rust so fast under the wrap. 🤷

Following along and enjoying your build process and that’s neat to be able to weld for sure.

Didn’t do much of anything but drink beer and stare at the car this weekend.

So funny story. I have had this car since 2012. I’ve had the steering column in and out of it idk how many times...

Well tonight I was looking at steering wheel quick release hubs. I’m a skinny guy in my 30s but getting in and out of it is a royal pain. As I was shopping around I was like “Man I wonder if it already has a quick release. It has what I think is a grant wheel on it”. So I go out to the garage and would ya look at that 😂. Pretty happy I don’t have to buy one now 🤣 🤷‍♂️

Don’t mind the mess of a interior. It’s obviously pretty far down on my to do list at this point lol. I’ll get there eventually (all that is my least favourite part of the build)

Little update. Holidays have slowed progress down but it’s nearly ready to start. Been years since my last turbo LS and I’m starting to get excited 😬

Downpipe is too close to the valve covers so I built a bracket to hold them up higher

Didn’t turn out too bad. Don’t love it but don’t hate it

Has some textures ABS laying around from a different project... so used it to build a radio delete panel and a panel to mount relays and fuses too

Little panel I’ll be bolting fuses/relays to

Everything powers up and engine cranks! Just have to do my fuel pump wiring out back and it’ll be ready to fire 🔥

Looking good man thanks for the update. Never saw anyone mount the fans on the outside of the radiator.. what’s the benefit to that or it is just because of the lack of space?

What are your thoughts on the termi x setup so far? Since my harness is fubar, im missing a pcm, and im going to run a 4l80....im heavily leaning towards the termi x route.

The only benefit is space. The downside is fans work much better in a puller rather than a pusher configuration. My 96 Trans Am I did the same with cheap fans and a single pass rad and it kept cool fairly well.

This car has a dual pass rad and the fans are Derale fans that are supposed to push a monsterous 2200cfm each so I should have no issues

I know a number of people who have used it and love it. I’m a big fan of the factory pcm to be honest... but the Holley is a no brainer. It has a wideband... can do boost control.. launch control.. 2 step... really the possibilities are endless and it saves you from spending $1000 on other stuff that the Holley can already do.

It also saved me mountains of time on the engine wiring. That alone was worth the $900 I spent on it. You’ll spend twice that though to get the terminator x max with trans control. I highly recommend the system though.

Looks like its on sale right now, and im buying everything at wholesale prices so we shall see. My parents Envoy just got delivered to my buddies shop tonight. Pulling the motor out of it and selling off the bits that didnt get destroyed in the crash. So we'll see.
