Default First Boosted Build

Hey all,

I have decided to go for a LS platform in my 1984 Delta 88. Currently i have a 455 in the vehicle. The Donor is a 2007 Denali. I will be running a 4l80e behind the 6.2.

I am looking for insight on my build. i am looking for 1000-1200Hp. I have (2) GT45 turbos and i hoped to use these. Other forums and various posts have said theses aren't practical in the aspect they do not spool up quick enough. I have aquired most of the parts for my engine build and need some recommendations on the rest of the parts i may need. I'm not a master mechanic or anything so this will be about a 6-12 month build. i plan to use a 8.8 rear end in the car as well. I guess im looking for advice on what all i will need to complete my LS swap and the turbo build.

Ok im gonna give my opinion here. 1000hp is alot of power. Have you ever even owned a 600hp car. Most havent. Id start small and work your way up unless your secretly a no prep racer and if you were you wouldnt be asking some of these questions.

Parts i have for turbo setup
1. Ok get rid of the gr45s there just wrong for twins. Id recommend twin 7665 or 7875 from VS racing. 7665 if its mostly street and 7875 if its mostly race.
2. do 2.5 piping kits.
3. Cx racing makes turbo headers and cast 90s to hold the turbos for g bodies maybe they will fit your car. Id recommend using stock exhaust manifolds and up pupes to make the turbos fit. They are cheaper and stronger.
4. VS racing sells decent wastegates twin 44 or 50 so you can lower boost as much as possible.
5. I recommend aem. They sell a o2 sensor and gauge that will hook to your ob2 port so no wiring and easy logging.
6. Ebay for oil lines and crap.
7. K&N has a huge selection of cone filters. Go to there website and search by demensions.

Main things i need

1 pac 1218 are to light for your btr stage 2 turbo cam. Get dual springs.
2 arp sells head bolts too. They are cheaper. They are just as good in my opinion.
3 get a bushing kit not a bearing kit
4 get bosch 210s. 80 wont do 1000hp
5 sounds good
6 btr stage 2 turbo cam. Make sure its the twin turbo cam it makes a difference.
7 dont spend a bunch of money on arp bolts. Reuse the old ones.
8 good call but gen 4 rods hold up suprisingly well.
9 twin aems minimium to get 1000hp
10 cam bearings could be reused if they are good and you dont bore the block.
11 diamond is my favorite bu wieseco is good too
12 dirty dingo makes a good product
13 ls9 head gaskets are the ****
14 make sure you get e85 compatible lines. If your not planning to run e85 youll think about it eventually and its better to only buy lines once.
15 that will work

Need for engine build
Gaskets reuse them i havent replaced a single gasket except head gaskets and ive had my engine apart probably 5 times for changes
1 see 14 of above list
2 ebay aluminium radiators are suprisingly good.
3 ebay again but make sure you over size it. Go as big as possible
4 those will work but so will ls7 lifters. Dont get fancy for no reason here
5 stock pump works good
6 stock intake is good. If you absolutely want one then msd makes a good one or go all out and holley high ram it.
7 stock coils
8 stock wires
9 terminator x **** yes
10 ebay black horse racing or something like that makes good ones for a decent price
11 get a 4l80e. Ptc single disc 3500 stall converter. Call them and tell em what your building they will set it up for you.
12 they should come with your forged rods
13 dont waste money reuse the stock one
14 these yes
15 reuse stock
16 reuse stock

Dont waste your money on a bunch of arp bolts for unimportant stuff.

But that is just my opinion on things.

Last thing is boost control. The holley is badass at it. Use it you will never want all the powa in first gear. Fast street cars have boost control worked out period. If not its usually a tire spinner or collects a wall eventually.

Hey man your the first person to lay it all out and make it easy to find the parts i need to complete it. Do you think i should just run one GT45 or get them out of there all together?

One will be small for it and two to big. One would spool real fast and make 550hp but id get rid of them and go VS racing second gen 7875 if your gonna go single.

Or hell for a few hundred more go with the VS s480 billet t4 96mm turbine. It spools good on a 6.0 or 6.2 and will make huge power. I think denmah made 1000rwhp with one.

I'm so confused on all of the ARP hardware lol.

If you have Lunati forged rods, you should already have ARP rod bolts. ARP valve cover bolts? Lol.

Gt 35 will spool hella fast but 600 is about all youll see out of the knock offs. Maybe 650. The cast 6765 twins are probably your best bet if your sticking twins is the 6765 cast turbos or the 66/73 borg knock offs cast or cast 7875. If your going single the billet 7875 first gen is 555 and can get you 750 or so but in single form with a 6.2 its gonna get backpressure. For a single i would go with a true borg warner s476 t6 96mm turbine 1.32 turbo. They go for like 670.00. Or like i said for the s480 t4 VS sales.

No, worse.

If you want 1200 HP, you might want to set back 2500 bucks or so as a contingency. Something will go wrong. With this being your first setup like this, you might want to budget for another engine. Going cheap is one thing, but setting your budget to less than $200 per turbo for 1200 hp is another.

Twin GT45s have made 1000hp before, but it's a tricky setup to get right because of the fact the turbines are a fair bit bigger than the compressors and they would be used in a twin setup.
