NA v. SC Hot v. cold
here is the thread : https://ls1tech.com/forums/street-racing-kill-stories/192113-victory-defeat.html
he had a "fully built motor and a blower". i just have the mods in my sig. anyway it was around 105 degrees out, and i was wondering how blowers respond to heat. do they suffer more or less power loss when its hot out compared a NA engine? if i raced him at like 50 F would he pull on me like a raped ape or would it be a closer race? (if u didnt go back to the original thread, i was at his bumper at 90mph)
i know when its half the temp outside it feels like the car has 30 hp more, (im not sure actual amount but it pulls way harder).
i have two theories on his(the SC Mustangs) power at higher temps:
1. he is using more air, so more air is affected, so greater percentage of power is lost
2. its a blower so if he loses density of air, his blower will just stuff more in, making no power loss.
please help clear this up, if its good news maybe i could go race him again
2)Blower runs off the crank so in order to stuff more in he would have to change pully or cool the air.
Of course you are getting the same hot air too so maybe he has a poor tune and or setup. No intercooler would make a huge difference.
a friends 96 cobra, with the basic bolt on vortech kit, would pick up over 30 +hp by dropping the outside air temps to 50's vs the normal 100 he woudl see in florida.
