Default Throttle body options?

When i bought my motor, the throttle body did not come with it. I do have the truck manifold but no TB. So what are good options for a turbo 5.3. I am not a fan of the DBW and i have a gen 4. It is a 4 bolt and i know most will say run a stocker, in that case do i get a gen 3 and an adapter plate or? Any one have luck with the WARR TBS? Any other suggestions or comments would help! Thanks!

There is lot of pretty cheap cable 4 bolt throttle bodies available on the market.

some companies want a rediculous amount of money for their throttle bodies. I don’t get it because there is a whole lot less going on in a efi tb than day in a carburetor.

ive seen some decent looking TBS for good pricing but im reading more and more into it and see issues occurring with the cheapers. My build is budget minded and theres no way im putting a $400 TB on my stock intake lol

I know they get the job done for sure. Thats kind of the route im thinking about after reading more and more horror stories on cheaper TB's. Thanks for your input guys.

As said, get the truck TB and adapter. Better than any cheap TB.

Yup I kinda gotta disagree with every one on here. Although Im currently using stock tb’s on all my junk.... My friends have never had a problem with cheap throttle bodies besides maybe having to open up the iac hole (no tuning complaints like you hear so much).

Though I would look for a “decent“ cheap tb like WARR (they have a solid track record).

They work good, and look so much better on your $6000 turbo setup than a ugly 3 bolt truck TB.

I have used both a cheap china t.b. And a Warr t.b. The Warr is better but the cheap one wasn’t bad either

imo if you just have to have the aesthetic use the holley or edelbrock 90mm.

the bullshit ive seen on the lower end ones is incredible. massively undersized IAC passages, blades that dont align correctly, undersize shaft so the TPS reads 0%, then 2% then 0% then 4% all of which make tuning a cammed turbo car a big stupid hassle for very little return.

you saved $200 on your TB, rad. But then you paid me $500 to make it not run like steamy dog ****.

damn i guess I have a little salt on this subject haha

actually, nevermind I said anything please continue to buy those things lol I got a mortgage to pay

Last 2 projects I used the Edelbrock 90, quality piece, plus I had a 4 bolt intake.
I had a name brand higher dollar TB for one project, the V that the cable rides in was wider
than others, so the barrel on the end of the cable couldnt stay in place bet. the guides.
I even called the man. about it, they didnt have much of a solution. So I guess that was
one case where money didint make a diff. I forget the brand name.

Pretty sad to hear that because like I said earlier, it’s not a overly complicated part and much more simple than a carb. They should be $2-400 and dead reliable

people get hung up on the bigger is better. ditching a 78mm truck TB for a holley or edelbrock for aesthetics sure I get that.

but going to a 102 on a drive by cable FI car all you are doing is making your life harder and losing throttle resolution.

here's an ugly truck 78mm making 1000 wheel, locked

and another making ~600 unlocked

I tried to remember who's it was, but dont want to post the wrong name-just made no sense to
build it that way-as I remember it was the steel linkage, not the alumn. style used on a lot of
them. I have seen massive power out of a GM DBW, hard to believe.

If i went cheap it would definitely be a WARR tb. Ive heard good things about them and denmah trusts em so that says alot to me. I also think that the stockers are a great quality piece. I wouldnt buy a quality piece to put on the junk yard build. I know the stock is good for 1000ish hp and i cant imagine making more than that. Anyone run the WARR with boost and good results?
