Default Boost Advice!!

So I知 assembling my 5.3 in about 2 weeks here and wanted to see what do you guys recommend for piston ring gaps if I知 planning on running 800-1000whp?

Throw it away if you want to ,make 1000 wheel on a 5.3l on 91 oct .lol

not just 91. I値l be using e85 as well, I just want to run 91 for the first 2-3k miles for break in.

You can turn it all down and run what ever but for the sake of people being able to help you, you have to state the highest HP goal you want and the best fuel you're willing to run. If its E85 then the build will revolve around making 1000+ on E85 and running a flex tune and then just what ever it happens to make on 91 when you turn it down to safe levels. 91 ain't going to have anything to do with the 1000hp territory you want. Maybe 700-800 on 91.

I run 91 and 20 psi and a LOT of meth. Like I refill my meth tank 4-5 times per tank(15ish gal) of 91...I get 45% meth 55% washer fluid here for $2.99/gal. Alaska only washer fluid for -40. I'm trying to find a 3 gallon meth tank to make it easier. I really dont know what hp i make or what the limits of 91 and meth spray are though. But every time I've seen the mention of 5 digit power on pump and meth spray it gets poopooed pretty quick.

I like this idea, but its a bit annoying trying to fill that tank all the time.

I use .026 top, .028 second-why, because someone who made a lot of reliable HP told me to, lol.

How do you figure..... no ?

top ring would be around 19 lower would be around 21. If going 20+ psi of boost I would do more like 22 and 24. don't forget to have a non restrictive catch can or vacuum pump.

I have a 4.030 bore so I'm running a 22 top and 24 lower. I made 930whp on a mustang dyno unlocked on 19 pounds of boost. I don't ever recall IATs over 150 without meth. I run flex fuel / 70% meth inj.

OK, thank you. You're a brave man. I'd be concerned about the heat on a 9s pass than a 5s dyno pull. Keep us posted.

I probably have atleast 50 passes, over 5000miles and lots of 150+mph street pulls. Running great !

Very little downside for 99.9% of the builds out there by running a larger ring gap. Very large downside from running too small of a ring gap and the ends butt.
