Default first runs with complete new build

well after a long winter I made it out to a social distancing track rental to work on my tune with a safe environment. car was rich low 10 afr to start but I wanted it safe. made 3 runs getting used to the car and tweeking the fuel tables after each pass this is my 3rd run slip and video is second pass 9.69 run. https://www.facebook.com/mike.strong.33886305/videos/676160353163453/

boost was 14-15 psi e85 , my 15-0 ptc converter is tight. and im not sure how well I like the ls3 heads and sheet metal intake yet. it makes power fine but they are lazyier building boost than a 317 head /truck intake combo. might do a gm rec port intake swap at some point in the future but not right away.and the higher the boost the better it seems to work . im sure I can get it in the 8s with a few more psi boost but under 20 im sure. very happy for the first 3 runs on the car as a whole . I guessed on the caltrack setting and it was good.

Nice to see you back out and that your track is open.

Nice! I bet it felt good to just make some hits!

I’m sure you will get things behaving better with some tweaking.

Woodburn dragstrip here in Oregon is doing the same. Limited cars, no spectators etc. to the point of having state officials present making sure guidelines are followed.

Congrats on getting back out to enjoy all the hard work. How does the container sound proofing sound up at Lapeer? Is it like making a pass down on 696?

I think the containers are working good for noise but with them stacked the first 1/8 mile you can't see the cars from the pits . as the bleachers are still not built. but im positive the noise is directed upward as opposed to traveling outward the locals really don't have much to bitch about now.

yes it will get faster with tweeking the 9.48 run was 15ish psi boost and the afr was still 10.6 gas scale on e85. the next run I pulled some fuel to get it in the 11.5 afr range and added 2 psi boost and I got greedy and went for a 7-8 psi leave and it spun. the track was pretty warm and I think I over heated the tires a bit. my bad as a 5-6 psi leave got me a 1.37 60'i should have just tried the same launch. live and learn I guess. but I have nothing to complain about 9.69 on the 2nd run ever on the car and 9.48 on the 3rd is way faster than I set out to run .

Awesome passes! It sure is nice when all that pre-planning works out. 8's at 20 psi will be the icing on the cake. In the video it sounded like the engine rpm pulled way down on the 2-3 shift. Is that from the converter being too tight?

it is pretty tight but my log was not showing rpm so I can't tell you but yes I think the 15-0 ptc 9.5 converter is tight at this mid 9 level . but I bet with more power it will be a good setup once I turn it up.
