Default Cruising Temps

Just curious what folks are seeing ECT wise when running on highway.

~2000rpm, 70mph, say 80* OAT.

Mine seems to run 180-200 area and was wondering if that was a average temp for folks with turbos/fmic

199degrees with any decent forward movement and no real turbo use, 205 if i get on the turbo some. If traffic sucks ***** i can creep up to 214degrees during stop and go. I'm debating on installing a 3rd pusher fan in front of the intercooler/radiator area.

I have never gotten mine to below 197-199 degrees and my 6.2 in my daily driver sticks right at 205 no matter what. I've wondered before if there are different thermostats in LS engines depending on the climate they are sold in.

I have an IC'er, so it obs blocks some air, but moving it will lower temps down to 190. I had been using an auto store WP, but switched to a GM WP, noticed it cools better. I have a Mr Gasket 180 TS now, but I dont think it really is 180, prob more like 195, might try their 160, figured it might be like a 180, lol.

Not an f body here , but cruises in the 170s no matter what the outside temp ( unless very cold) 160 Stat , griffin rad , Taurus fan , 3 inch fmic. I think keeping the ECT down is an under rated factor in keeping the knock away

1996 Z28, Twin turbo'd 5.3, 2.5" in/out dual front mount intercooler. Temps at idle to cruising on the freeway for 30 miles at 75 (4L80E w/3:55 differential gear) and it stays between 170 and 180 all the time. On long pulls up hills, it will get up closer to 190 by the crest of the hill but no more than that. Even in the quarter mile, it stays less than 190.
Griffin 'stand up' radiator.
Dual Deraile pusher fans
Stock thermostat with a small hole drilled into it to pass a little coolant all the time.
Standard Green 'premix' 50/50 coolant.
Factory Water pump

Most likely not enough air flow through radiator to handle the heat load. Make sure air dam is installed/functional and no air can flow around rad. Pusher fans typically impact air flow through rad more than pullers. I assume no room on engine side of rad for pullers. You could decrease coolant concentration to 25% for increased cooling and still have sufficient corrosion coverage.

Maintaining 195. Griffin double pass radiator with two 2200cfm pushers

at a stop light it will start to creep up. Idk where it would creep to cuz it will drop if I give it a small rev. I’d like to go to a electric water pump in the future

Yes, air dam is there.

Gonna try and compare the old HPT tune cruise timing vs the current holley setup, thinking it may be too little.
