Default roots blower on stock rotator l92 with high compression?

I was building a high compression na engine for my little 32 roadster. thinking about doing a 416 stroker with high compression.

well the roots blower bug bit me again. I am just kicking around the idea of bolting a roots on the stock block and rotating assembly. I have a holley hi ram intake so adapting it would be easy. and the roots would eliminate the loss of low end torque from the intake and big camshaft. current cam is a texas speed f35 which I think would be great with a roots from personal experience with roots blown sbc's. not interested in any of that wide lsa crap either. narrower lsa makes the engine run cooler. I don't care to give up a few hp. especially in exchange for cooler engine temps and a evil lope.

the possible flaw here is that I have milled the heads to low 50's on chamber volume. compression is approaching 13:1. this will NOT be raced. just driven with 5-6 psi max boost and 6500 rpm rev limit. oh, and did I mention e85 fueled?

I promised myself that I would do a na set up this time. no blowers turbos or nitrous. but on a driver 32 roadster, the visual impact of a big roots huffer erupting through the hood would just be devestating. all of that tq would really be fun with the t56 that is in the car too.

any reason this would not work for a driver on e85? I do NOT drive it like I stole it 95% of the time. and all of that compression would make it sound wicked.

Will be fine on E85. Cam selection will be important.

I went back and forth and finally settled on the e85 roots blown combo. 6.2 block and crank with diamond flat tops and scat rods. bpe 12 degree ls3 heads milled to 50cc chambers, ls9 headgasket and arp studs. cam motion 240/255-110 camshaft, pac 1207x prings, holley hi ram with adapter plate and a 6-71 blower. have all of the parts gathered just waiting on 2nd keyway to be cut into the crank and having it balanced.

this is going in front of a t56 in a 32 ford roadster. the car should weigh around 2300 lbs rolling down the street. with 2" primary sprint car style headers and 4" in/out muffs, it should sound pretty wicked and not run bad either.

Default Fueling it

I’m curious on how you’re going to fuel it. Are you running a plate for injectors above the blower and then a enderle/hilborn hat? That’s what I intend to do. Carbs would make me nervous unless the e85 is coming out of a barrel of known mix. I’d like to see some pics when it comes together. Nothing like a roots blower for looks and they get more efficient with alcohol.

my hi-ram has bungs and rails. going to put 8 more 42's in a plate under the dual edelbrock 4150 air only throttlebodies for a total of 16x42 lb injectors all running at the same time. will probably do a progressive bau later on. I don't run my tune anywhere near the edge. it's just a cruiser, but every now and then I have to bump off a crotch rocket.

You might want to consider running most of the fuel through the blower, They do produce a lot of heat and the added fuel will help keep IAT's in check. With 13:1 and 6lbs your effective compression ratio will be high so you'll need all the help you can get.
