A forum member offered to pick one up and ship it to me. Pretty excited about that...

I also noticed they have motors with a different style plug from Four Seasons that have canadian stickers on them. They were actually cheaper than the PN I got @ $55. I had stayed away from them because the motor looks completly different. Wishing I went that route now. At least I could test it.

Does anyone have the exact part number from an original Ford 3.8l cooling fan motor? I want to confirm the 3.0l fan motor is a different part number. The fan assemblies are different, but not even the Ford parts department could not tell me if the fan motors are different.

I gave up and installed 2 12" flexalite "wave" fans. Didn't think I'd have room but bet I coulf have fit a 14 and a 12, oh well! Looks like the same old fan and baby 7 amp motors. Just has a revised blade that flows 1300cfm. Or about 25% more than thier previous version.

I did what I always hound on people for and just bolted the damn thing on my radiator with no shroud. I don't have an IC on this car and nothings blocking the radiator, so I took a gamble. Seems fine, highest I say was 193* after beating on it and sitting in traffic. It came down super slowly from there, but it did come down. Cruising it drops to 185. This was on a 93 degree humid nasty day. Calling it good! But I I was lucky enough to have a member here sending me an OEM ford motor. I'll report the PN once I Get it.

kinda cool design.

That's impressive to pick up 20% just by changing the blade to the sinewave. I hope they patented it!

Not very loud either. The last straight blade fan I had was obnoxious!

Following.

I have a single blade Contour fan on my build. Mine runs warm so far, but in the fan's defence I have not spent more time trying to bleed the system or otherwise trouble shoot it. Once warmed up it likes to around be around 225. I do have an IC in front of it, about a 2" air gap.

2" air gap...slap another fan in the middle ?

With the added bonus it will help pull air through the IC too.

That's similar to some Derale's and Fbody fans. A little over 30 amps.

FWIW , just put the DC ammeter on my Taurus fan - 27.5 amps on high - 11 amps on low . Low handles 99 percent of driving conditions

I had mine just had the high wired, not the low. I'll discuss with Jay.

I noticed my 94 Taurus fan (2 years old Spectra), the wiring got pretty warm and I have blown a 50 amp fuse. A few folks told me to check the ground. @GMCGreg thoughts?

Mmm... might ramble a bit here. Ground and it's ability to handle current without voltage drop is equally as important as the power side of the circuit. Having a poor ground would lead to poor performance of the fan or fuel pump or whatever but unlikely to blow a fuse as current flow would be reduced. Undersized wire for the current draw will definitely cause heat which could transfer into a fuse holder and cause it to blow, also your standard inline fuse holder is prone to creating some heat in the push in spade connections. Not sure what type fuse you blew ? Did have some troubles with mine at first , what I thought were good relays were not Lol - burnt out a few on low and high . Not using anything special now just Amazon stuff , 40amp stud type breaker 40 amp relay controlled by stock ecm . Taurus 60 amp fuse holder ( from fan doner car ) 2 × 40 amp relays mounted in front of rad (less ambient heat ) 3 way switch in cab , pos 1 low speed ecu controlled, pos 2 off , pos 3 power to switch side of high speed relays on ( relays already grounded) power cut to switching side of low speed relay so low and high are not on at same time. This provides full auto low speed fan for most driving in pos 1 , and manual high speed for staging lanes , burnout , hi temp traffic situations which usually not a problem but a tailwind can make it run hotter. Oh and wire size , overkill here - about a 2 Guage from alt to 100 amp constant run relay that is key operated , that feeds a bunch of breakers for everything not original to the truck. The fan wiring is all 8 Guage , not sure how hot it gets but been like this 2 yrs now no issues. Let me know if you need anything cleared up

I have been using a Leash single relay for the fan. I'm not recalling if I used 8 gauge, I might have. I'll let you know what Jay ends up doing.

That looks like a quality piece, have you checked the current draw on your fan ? I think you mentioned it's an aftermarket version?

Is that the rated amps or something you measured with it running? This post was started by force fed because of issues he had with an aftermarket Taurus fan , wondering if this is your main problem?

That's what he said running I think.

Might be my issue too, Jay will figure it out.

I was reading that folks wired these fans with 8 gauge, I think I did thinner wire than that. I'll ask Jay.
