Yeah I'm just weighing options at this point. An 8.8 would be fine at my weight and is cheaper than most other choices for the strength you get from it.
9" may be a possibility, we'll see.

The new engine will likely be going on the engine dyno before it goes in the car.

True 8.8 would certainly work, mine isnt heavy either (~2500lbs) but 9" didn't cost more and easier to swap 3rd members for gear changes.
