Default Pinned balancer removal

So I’m gonna do a cam change , ditch mast vvt cam and go with a btr blower cam . I double pinned my truck balancer when I put the whipple 2.9 on . So now what ? remove and put same one back on ? I could buy a new one, and pin in a new spot? Im Still on a 6 rib belt but it seems to be fine with the gates rpm @14 lbs . Also what do I need to get rid of vvt? New timing set , timing cover , was thinking new oil pump high pressure/ volume . Anything I’m missing ?

Don't know about the balancer, but to delete VVT you need a new cam gear and LS2/LS3 front cover.

Take your balancer to a machine shop with a knee mill or CNC, and they can get the half circle you need with an end mill.

I'm guessing .25" diameter pins?

If the pins were put 180 deg apart from each other and there is no reason to index the HB then, a machine shop can do it very easily no problem

If the pins were not 180 deg apart from each other then you may have to get creative or pay someone to get creative.

Edit: Make sure it is chucked up on the interior portion of the HB. If they clamp it from the outer rim of the HB, the tooling pressure combined with the rubber on the HB will make for an inaccurate machining operation. A machine shop that knows about engines will know this, a regular machine shop may not

Edit 2: I guess you could also reuse your old HB. May need to get creative in reinstalling it

I'm interested in this as well. I'm about to pin my crank, but have been wondering about removal/reinstall it in the future.

Ive removed my pinned balancer and reinstalled double pinned without issues. I just used a new spot on both the balancer and crank. I like to use a brand new bit though.

Get extra pins that are long enough to stick into the crank to line up holes on balancer. Pull balancer on, remove the alignment dowels and then install the short ones back in the holes.

Most aftermarket balancers have a key way. I’m assuming you are all using stock balancers?

Balancer has a key way, but stock crank does not. Just the woodruff key for the timing gear.

In that case I like the ATI pin kit. Although it’s prob not quite as stout for blower cars.

I use the ATI balancer and ATI pin kit that pins the balancer just like the 2 pin method Justhereforinfo posted a picture of. Works very well and simple to do.

Yea the picture is of a K1 crank, which was keyed, but the fluidyne balancer was not, so i pinned it. I reused the balancer from my stock crank setup, thats why it has 4 holes.
