Default Comp oiless turbo grease

Anyone know a suitable replacement compound for comps oiless turbo grease? I lost the tube mine came with.

And I’m not paying $200 for a 3oz tube of their high temp water resistant grease. That’s just insane for a product that probably costs them $50 for a 5 gallon bucket of this stuff from the mfg that makes it for them. You figure after their customers just bought these turbos for $4k they wouldn’t rip them off with the grease needed to maintain it.

Huron speed has it $149.. Which is still ridiculous

Can you get a MSDS for the grease? That might help

Exactly why I didn't get an oil less turbo. Just ludicrous pricing and it doesn't even last that long.

Ive been trying. But they have 0 information accept a sales pitch on their site. And no one else talks about this at all.

It’s literally just a high temp water resistant grease.

Out of curiosity, how often does the grease require replacement or service?

I have to request MSDS from vendors all the time in my day job. I'd call them or one of their distributors and ask for one.

Interesting subject. I went down a rabbit hole reading about extreme temp grease. I don't think you're going to find a $20-50 replacement. I don't know what's in the blend that the turbo brands use, but grease rated for near 500-800 degrees and super high speeds is REALLY expensive.

It's $150-$170 from the turbo brands for a 3oz tube and its about $90/tube for anything I find remotely close to those specs. Most grease for that operating temp is made for foundry work and its all very low speed/high pressure bearings and clay based grease.

The stuff for turbos is pretty much spaceship grease and the prices seems to reflect it, brand name or not.

You are going to risk $4k worth of turbo's over a $200 tube of grease....
While I doubt it costs Comp that much, I can tell you that being in industrial automation specialized grease is very expensive.

I make bearing grease for Indy cars. The stuff is dirt cheap. I'm sure we have a product line somewhere that could handle turbos as well.

The problem with that though, is if it works good then AWESOME! If it doesn't work right, then it's.....broken turbo.
Unless you know whats in the turbo stuff, how are you going to know what's safe without it being an experiment on an expensive turbo? Not that you don't have access to the right stuff, but how do you stop the guy you give it to from being the test monkey?

Because the point isn't to know what is in the stuff that Comp sells. Its just to have a grease that does exactly the job that its needed to do.
I'd guarantee these greases for jet turbine shafts are more than capable.
