Default Second stage of meth

Currently running 50 percent ethanol as a primary fuel and running a 3 gph nozzle on at 3 psi.

Id like to add a second stage with a larger nozzle on at 8-10 psi.

Can I just T my feed line to a solenoid then trigger the solenoid with another pressure switch getting power from the same relay I have powering the pump? Or do I need a separate relay for the solenoid?

I'm not overly familiar with meth kits but wouldn't that depend on the amp draw of the solenoid and the amp load capacity of the relay?

Relay is 40 amps. Pump draw is 10 amps. The solenoid is snow performance.

I would just turn up the threshold for the single stage and hit it with the larger nozzle. I run an M10 nozzle on a switch all in around 6-8 psi and it doesnt bog.

Typically on a stock ECM the AEM meth controller works well with a MAF signal (or MAP if you deleted MAF), you can tuck it in the center console or somewhere easy to get to. That will let you run a larger jet or multiple and not flood your intake, fairly cheap at $150 as well.

I think what you're planning will be fine even off the same relay . As ddn says though you could easily up the nozzle size without issue. FWIW I run 10gph on at 4-5 lbs @ 50% w/m no bog or hesitation, but at 30% w/m there was a noticeable hesitation

True I've never run such a small jet like a 3GPM unless it was for direct port with 8 of them. Like you said if its a single setup I start with a 10 or 15 and many builds get a 20 (or more) with no issues.

If the primary fuel is already 50%E, with meth as a secondary, I can't possibly see an issue with just dumping in fuel. Not like you are worried about being low maintenance. The usual reasons for small stages would be because of using a meth/water mix of less than 50% to reduce corrosion and flammability, but I think that ship has sailed. Pure meth can damn near be fire hosed in with a HUGE tuning window. As for your real question, that is up to your pump capacity and electrical calculations.

Yep 50% ethanol as the primary fuel and 2 cans of heet mixed in per gallon of -20 windshield washer fluid as a secondary(close to 50% water/meth?). I'll just up the single nozzle a little bit for now.

On an entirely different note, you should be able to find a chemical supply place with much better prices than what you pay for heet or washer fliud. Even methanol/nitromethane mix for 2 stroke racing may be cheaper than auto store heet. I looked into using that for my meth kit years ago, but did not like the idea of my exhaust being nitric acid from the nitromethane.

You can get methyl hydrate by the gallon for use in air dryers for truck air brakes , it's about 8$ up here so I bet it's only 5 in the US. Mix that at 25% to 75% blue washer fluid yields very close to 50% W/M. So 1 gal methyl hydrate and 4 gal washer fluid gets you 5 gal of 50/50 for under 20$ - not bad. I have no idea why this is underlined LOL

I'm not using enough w/m injection to get stressed over the cost of it. I think I currently have about $250 in the system, one gallon of -20 is just over $3 and the heet is a little under $2 a bottle. The main factor here is convenience and availability. The -20 and heet is always available about 5 minutes from my house at oreilly's. The ethanol is available about 5 minutes from my house in the opposite direction.

I would keep it simple like you have been. WWF and HEET, stay single nozzle, up the trigger psi, done.

How are you guys determining the meth/water content % of what your mixing? I just installed an AEM setup in my Hornet, and was thinking of getting some of the premixed boost juice, so I would know what mixture I am tuning with. I think the boost juice is like 49/51.

General rule of thumb is WWF is around 30% meth. HEET is like 100% meth. From volume you can mix what % you want. Not exact but pretty close. I haven't seen much if any benefit from going from straight WWF to 50/50 but I'm not on the ragged edge.

We have to agree on a few things wwf = 30% meth , heat /methyl hydrate = 100 % methanol. So 3 quarts of wwf = 1 quart of methanol - roughly . Add 1 quart of 100 % meth and you have 2 quarts of methanol in 4 quarts of mixture . It's a little off because the 30% of the washer fluid is not 33% , so without a calculator that's about 48% meth . Hope this is understandable and helpful

A standard 1 gal jug of af is 8 inches to the top of the mixture, take that jug down to 6 inches full and add meth to top it back up to 8 inches - done and simple. Not extremely accurate but close enough for me , yielding consistent results

I’ve seen some tests that suggest the premixed stuff is a lot lower meth content than the 50/50 they claim. One brand even froze when put in the freezer so it was probably under 30 percent.

Cheapest to mix your own. I grab 5 gallons of methanol form a local race shop and mix it with washer fluid. Not as practical as heet for many, but it you have lots of race fuel shops near... its about half the cost per gallon of 50/50.
