Default D1SC Driveability

Anyone care to chime in on the driveability of a LS1, 6.0, or 402 with a D1SC? I'm looking or pretty much stock driveability and willing to sacrifice a little power for it. Is it possible?

My car has a lsx 427 with a d1sc and the driveability is very good. No problems at all.

They don't really affect drivability, tuning and cam size are more of a concern.

If tuned properly for drive-ability you would be none the wiser between a NA setup and centri-blower until you obviously started giving it RPM (above 3-4k). As said it's basically dependent upon your engine setup (radical cam typically requires a little more fine tuning for drive-ability, compression, etc.). So you can build a mild NA combo that will perform well to very well with FI or you can build a stout NA combo that can perform very well to better with FI.

Drivability is tuner dependent. Mine drove like OEM other than the blower whine.

Mine had stock like drivability with the D1-SC until I stepped on the gas. Then it just got way more enjoyable. Lol

I have a Procharger D1SC and the only issue is that it is noisy. I have had mine for eight years and no issues at all.

Driveabilty, IMO, depends on cam profile, stall of converter, rear end ratio, pulley size if not 4.5, and how good the tune is dependent on those factors.

About the noise factor: I have about 8k miles on my D1SC - built in early 2005 with the straight cut gears. As it wears in, IMO, the whine is definitely getting louder. However, I have also installed a larger crank pulley and a smaller blower pulley along with the Aster Bracket, and a vented ATI Red race bypass valve. Those mods do increase noise factor. With the supplied 4.5 blower pulley included with the kit, blower rpm is much less than so the noise factor will be less than a 3 inch pulley and/or a larger crank pulley.

The black valve in the kit is not nearly as noisy as the bigger vented red bypass valve. With the black bypass valve you can recirculate back to the blower inlet hat. Doing that makes it quieter. You can also do the same with the vented red valve by running a hose from the valve back under to car to muffle the sound when not in boost.

For me, driveability also includes the noise factor.

At beginning and at end of video you can hear blower whine and the air from the bypass valve under idle when not making boost. It's about the same in the cabin until you go WOT - then its all motor.

My D1SC setup drives like OEM stock.
The open bypass valve is crazy loud though. I built a enclosure around it with PVC pipe and now it is super quiet. Cant even tell its there.
The whine from the D1SC is a little noticable at idle, but honestly its not that bad. I originally thought it would be annoying but its not bad at all. And I have the straight cut gears. The helical gear would be even quieter.
