Default 11:1 e85 lsa

Just ordered Summit Pro LS 11:1 forged pistons for my dedicated E85 LSA build.

Most seem to say this is fine. Slightly scared, wanted 10:1, but choices were either 9.5:1 or 11:1. Am I doomed? Machine shop says people are doing it all the time now, some even higher.

I’m still contemplating having the +2cc pop up domes machined off of them and converted to flat tops when they arrive.

sounds good to me. plenty of heat exchange using lake water. e85 for the octane. I cant see how you can lose, unless you miss really hard with the cam.

can you fuel from jugs on the water where you live?

I wouldn't build an engine for E85 unless it was at least 11:1

Is it supercharged? This is the forced induction tab.. in which case bang goes the head gasket?

Humor me, why do you believe bang goes the head gasket?

Shows inexperience. I'm just over 11:1 and don't even run an intercooler. Ohh the horror! The interwebbzzz says it'll blow up.

I’ve posted about it before, so apology on the repeat. This is good chat though, because the pistons just came in, and I would have the chance to spin them into flat-tops before I put the motor together.

Just was a little concerned about peak cylinder pressure lifting the head. If its not an issue, then its a non-issue.

We’ll see if LS9 MLS gaskets and ARP studs hold it together. Really tempted to copper spray them.

LS9 gaskets and ARP studs will be fine, just make sure the surfaces are clean and flat for the MLS gaskets, copper spraying them can't hurt either.
On another note, look at how gloriously thick that piston crown is!

Just don't give it NA timing on 20PSI and they live just fine. haven't had any HG issues and it saw 30PSI on SBE with small chamber heads.

Thanks again for all the input. Yeah, the piston description says they are boost specific, so hence the ring pack low geography. Also helps to make it more forgiving during calibration I would presume. Machine shop said the skirts are thick as well. These pistons are stock stroke, 4.070" bore, 6.125" rod length, smaller 0.927" pin bore (SBC?) per the piston and rod kit Summit sells together.

Yep, thanks. LSA blower, reinforced intercooler brick, lake water cooling (non-salt), 6.2, 11:1, dedicated E85 (not flex), 28% overdriven blower, 224/232 cam 114.5 0.590"/0.590", estimating 15psi of boost or less.
