Try it and see. 250F IATs are no joke.

Really don't think they are that big of a deal... *if* you know what your doing. I don't! Still too new at it all. But if you look at Chris Bishir's S-10, he won drag week with an 8.50 average at 160+ in a 3200lb s10. Then turned it up and went 8.3x on the last day. He held the 5.3 SBE record for awhile on that pass. SBE cam only with pump e85. No water meth etc... Twin out of the box S366's. No intercooler.

He told me he was over 250* at the 1/8th. Just needed to have the car tuned properly to deal with the charge temps. It clearly was reliable and making impressive power. Several other hot air guys state the same. They just ignore IAT and go by plugs.

I'm wondering if S366's have more potential than the entry level 78/75's. I have to be missing something on my setup... to many others have run a lot better without an IC at heavier weights. Def not saying E98 is the answer... But i'm out of ideas at this point.

Chris' S10 was a good runner, haven't heard from him in a while. I guess for some reason I thought he had an intercooler.

I think e98 would be worth a shot on a hot air setup even thow you don’t need more octane you could use the extra alcohol for cooling the cylinders even if it doesn’t pick up a ton of power it should still be safer for a hot air car

If you're still using MS3, you can open the flex setting and look at how it handles the information from the flex sensor. The percentage is listed for 0, and 100%. Should be fairly simple math from there. If you're not using a content sensor, it would be worth it to have. It works very well, just blending off the sensor. But you can use blended tables as well. After getting in the ball park you can lock it out if you choose. Or leave it operable to easily go back and forth between 98, and 85, or the lesser pump blends in winter.

Ive used it on my street cars with the MS3 and it has worked great. Not setup on this car as its basically "race only". My issues with the flex sensors is they are tiny ID wise. Not even 3/8. Which is to small for the supply or return line. So plumbing them isn't as straight FWD as throwing a sensor inline. You almost have to parallel the sensor to the fuel line and then you get inconsistencies if teh flow isn't constant. It was just one more thing to go wrong on a race car IMO. Also I found if you have it on the return, you get a lot of inconsistencies. Previously I plumbed them inline with my surge tank being constantly filled with an OEM pump. Then my main pumps were fed by the surge tanks. This worked really well. Just don't want the hassle on a race car that won't ever see 91 octane.

Just noticed Bishirs truck has dual rails for a dual fuel setup, with the larger E85 injectors being higher in the runner. Having switched to a blow thru setup the intake manifold stays a lot cooler than before, often well below ambient with the amount of E85 flowing through it, even condensating, dead cold after a pull. Hard to trust any IAT sensor in the runner post fuel but injecting the fuel as far away from the valve as you can certainly helps cooling.

He was setup to run dual fuel and methanol, but didn't on drag week. He has an AC compressor clutch pulley on a mechanical fuel pump! Pretty trick setup. But for his 8.3x to 8.5x it was straight E85. No fancy fuels or tricks. I'm wondering if an S366 is just a better turbo than the 78/75 at this point. Everyone seems to make great power per pound on them. Intercooled or not. Either way 600hp at 20lb is garbage! Something has to be off. Just can't figure it out. I verified the MAP was correct with a calibrated digital gauge. Also did another compression test. Got 160ish across the board. Which seems low for a 706 headed flat top motor. The Summit STG3 isn't that radical 232/234 115.5 + 5.5, .600/.575 Lift,

My baby cam 5.3 advanced 2* with a 212/212 @ 112 spit out 190-195 on the same compression tool. It trapped 159 intercooled at 24lbs with an S476 @ 3200lbs. I just can't figure why this one is such a turd.

Bought a new "good" digital calibrated compression tester. Compression is 170-175 across all 8. Apparently my old kit was a little off.

I changed to e85 . Simple change ur stoich to 9.7 and twick from there. Couldn't believe how easy it was. Look it up.

And by the way im non cooler also. E85 runs so cool u literally don't have to worry about IATs. I was in the 250ish and higher all the time when wot.

When i had my f-2 30lbs boost.

That’s not how you alter the fueling on my ECU. Car is already tuned on E85… I can add or subtract a percentage form the maps, so far I’ve heard a pretty wide range. Local friend says it took 10% over his E85 tune to make it happy. He happens to be non intercooled as well. Prob give that a go and report back after. Good to har another is well over 250* without issue. What plug did you run?

Little late in the game but you ever figure this out??? Plugs were NGK V Power 8 24 gap. Missed your post. And took a break for away.

Unfortunately, it depends. We’ll assume base fuel has 10% ethanol already in it.

If the pump “E85” Is really typical 70% ethanol you add about 32%. If its really 85% its more like 44%. And if its 98% ethanol its more like a 56% increase. But it will vary. Those numbers are all rounded up so go rich and tune down.
