1300 or 1700 injectors for 1000hp E85
Make sure you know what pressure the 1300s are rated at. I have FIC 127lb injectors but they are rated at 58psi. I had them flowed at 43 and it was 106lb!
You're not gonna get 1700s and 210s to idle like a 24lb OEM injector, but any tuner worth their salt can make them good.
Dual 450s will be marginal for 1000 (I assume rwhp) on E85. If you're forced to use them, then:
- If you are using the Walbro flow chart to determine flow, make sure you are using the right fuel pressure, especially if you turn up the base FP to make the injectors flow more. Remember, the higher the fuel pressure (base + boost), the less the pumps flow.
- Whatever flow you come up with, factor in at least a 10% margin for flow loss from the fuel line, filters and fittings, especially Ys, 90*s and those horrid 180*s.
- I assume with a 8an feed, you have a Y at the pump(s) end, a single 8an with a filter, then another Y at the engine to feed the rails. Marginal at best!
- With only a single 8an feed, get the largest post-pump filter available with a SS element that won't cause a restriction.
- Remove the check valves to help the pumps flow more.
- Make sure they are getting maximum voltage. This is one of the main reasons for pumps not flowing as rated because folks don't realize they are losing voltage under high revs/load.
- With 388ci, you'll have less cylinder pressure than the typical 5.3 or 6.0, so you might consider a E70 mix for a slightly lower BSFC and slightly lower AFR.
- Keep a close eye on the plugs and decreasing fuel pressure / increasing Inj DC%, a sure sign the pumps have maxed out.
