Question 1300 or 1700 injectors for 1000hp E85

Gonna be switching over to ID injectors due to the 1500cc DW running like crap no matter what we tried. This is a LSX 388 cu which is gonna have a Kong 2650 on top. Goal is 1000hp on E85 so do you guys think the ID1300x should be fine or do I need to get the ID1700x? Car is a weekend car btw...

If you don't want to be well above 80-85% on IDC then 1700's as the 1300's will be pretty damn close to all in on E at 1000whp even with all the fuel pump you can give it. My experience with VP E85, Magnafuel 4303, and 1300's was 1150 engine dyno HP. We had a little room left to go but the pump was also about all-in.

Ok I forgot to mention I'm using dual 450 walboros (Chris1313 assy), 8an feed, 6an return with Aeromtive Regulator. Yeah looks like I'm kinda leaning towards the 1700s. Less duty cycle is probably better.

Stupid question, why not run Bosch 210's?
Not sure dual 450's will get you there either, local guy peaked at 900whp through an unlocked 4L80 on E85 before the twin 450's ran out.

ID 1300s will easily do 1000+ rwhp with as much boost as a 2650 will make on E85 with good pumps at 4 bar base fuel pressure and the 1300s are very linear at low pulsewidths. The ID 1700s lose some of that linearity down low so I don't recommend them if they aren't needed.

I honestly cannot remember if we were 3 or 4bar base pressure. So based on that the Aeromotive 5gpm would handle the duty, it would take two 4303’s (Magnafuel says all in at 1300chp on E) or single 4701 but that is not a street duty pump.

It's already done with the dual 450lph pumps and this is on a C5 so it is a royal PITA

Before I came back to this thread, this is what I generally come to believe after some reading. BTW this is on a Kong 2650 with upgraded cooling, etc. Yeah I was reading that the 1700's are kinda hard to get idling right for regular driving...

They work pretty well, it's just that if you don't need them then use the 1300s instead. I have ID 1700s in my TT C6Z and make around 1400 rwhp through a glide on E90 and they drive very well and have room to go but they just aren't as good at lower pulse widths which may or may not affect your combo.

We also use a lot of FIC (both Clinic and Connection) injectors and they work well but they just aren't on IDs level.

I’m on the 210 bosch bandwagon. Why fart around with anything smaller that costs more? A 210 will idle pump gas and drive normally. Has SS internals and is more compatible with alcohol fuels than most injectors. Its not ideal spray pattern wise… but it’s a great injector for the money. I also like them because you can run lower base pressures and make the pump go farther.

There is a huge difference between those things and ID injectors in reliability, injector to injector fueling, and accurate small pulse width variability, but I would say that most people that don't do this on a daily basis won't be able to tell the difference or what to even look for. Most people think they have all SS internals but they don't and you will find that out a couple of years down the road. There are tons of reasons to spend more money on a better injector.

I agree, people waste a lot of time and money continually upgrading injectors. Old shop had an ASNU injector cleaner and flow bench, people would bring in 5 year old Bosch 210's as well as every brand of fancier injector. Never saw the "huge difference" claimed between the brands, the Bosch 210 still flow the same year after year. Been using Bosch 210's for over a decade now on E85, plenty reliable enough for me!

If guys have money to blow on their build then sure nothing wrong with buying the ID's, if you have any sort of reasonable budget then the Bosch units will fit the bill just fine. Equate it to turbos, are they on a VSR or Garrett budget? Granted I see plenty of GTX55 builds still running Bosch 210's.

I hear ya on the budget I never really cared for the IDs but a guy I got to know recommended a shop here in IL to me that mostly does Corvette tuning and after talking to them the guy said they will only tune with ID injectors to avoid problems! I found that very strange but the shop has a good rep tuning and this is why I was looking into the ID's when I do my supercharger upgrade, etc. and getting it tuned. I currently have some DW / Deautchwerks 1500cc in there now and they are good but don't idle or start very well and they said it's those injectors that are the culprit, so here I am lol.

If a shop only tunes one brand of injector I would find a new shop. Your current trouble is probably related more to the injector data in the tune than the actual physical performance of the injectors.

And just as many reasons not to spend a mint on "fancy" injectors if not needed. The Bosch are an OEM equipment injector and have been pretty darn reliable for me year after year. Treat them well and flush them occasionally and I've yet to have any issues. Seem to flow the same year after year. As I said, they idle pump gas ok enough to daily drive and work on all ethanol blends well enough in my experience. What else do most people need? All comes down to budget and intended use.. If I were racing heads up for thousands of dollars and had a 30-50k+ in my motor setup I can see going with a more expensive "nicer" injector. But 220s work for the majority.

I do this every day and have seen more problems than I can count with the Bosch 220s over the years compared to other injectors. I'm glad they work for you and for some others but as I said before there are plenty of reasons to go with better injectors. I totally understand being on a budget and not wanting to spend the money when there is a cheaper alternative. I probably wouldn't put a set of $1600 injectors in a $500 junkyard motor either but I've yet to see a "fancy" injector fail while I can't say the same for the others.

Doing this every day and never seen a name brand aka "fancy" injector have issues? I've seen numerous name brand injectors fail a flow test, stick open/closed, etc. Injector issues aren't regulated to cheap injectors by any means, injectors that cost way more than $1600 still have issues sometimes. At least the name brands have good customers service, but it's still a hassle that spending more money didn't solve.

Oh I've seen plenty of name brand injectors have problems and all of the issues were related to debris stuck in the injector, but that's not a fault of the injector. I've also seen tons of low dollar injectors just stop working from fucked up tolerances and shitty coils or rust out internally and it certainly wasn't debris that caused it.

I get that and many knockoffs exist in the market, but an OEM Bosch unit isn't exactly a low dollar shitty unit. ID used the same Bosch part number, claimed compatible with ethanol/methanol, flow matched them and sent them out the door with a 400% markup.

Not even close to being accurate, they machine many of the internals in house and while they are a Bosch partner they don't use OEM internals. I know this because I've actually taken a tour of the building here in AZ and talked with Paul Yaw and it's impressive as hell. I mean they literally have "clean rooms" in their facility, to manufacture injectors.
