I’m not on FB, so I don’t have access to the John Sears Ultra Street rules…. I spoke with him last year about it. He said to email him. I did, and never heard back from him…

Its one of my pet peeves…. Promoters that only use FB for their events…

Do you know Nick McGrath or Jesse Coulter, I'm sure they'd know. I saw some %$#$@%#$% comments about the NMCA rules for next year on FB.

Yeh, I know them both, but not very well. Hopefully I’ll run into one or both of them at PRI again next month.
I had heard that John Sears was talking about trying to slow the class back to the 60s range. Seems that adding weight is about the only way to do that now…

Geeze, those are complicated rules. And we think lawyers complicate things!

Agree with you about FB Pete. I deleted my account in late 2016.

If you are at PRI Pete you should be able to get a handle on all of this, NMCA has a big booth and I'm sure you can get all your answers.

What size engine are you running again? Manna has taken advantage of the <365 cube rule for X275 and runs at 28xx raceweight. But of course that class is f'g fast right now, he's been 4.20@172.

I’m currently sitting in 16F on an American flight to Indy right now.

thanks for the rules update. I’ll check with NMCA and hoping I run into John Sears as well.

Anthony sure has his stuff figured out! Unfortunately, I’m at 370”. Maybe my next setup will be sub 365.

Looks like 3125 for me in Ultra Street/Extreme Street.

Now, how to add 300lbs…

Or, bolt on an 88 and get my *** kicked by the likes of, well, everyone in the class…lol

Yeah no weight break for you if you go smaller cubes. Have fun at PRI.

If you are doing to run Xtreme Street you might want to take screen shots of stuff and go over it it Rollie Miller or the tech director if he's there, I don't recall his name.

Thanks John. I saw Rollie for a minute today, and John Sears too. But, didn’t have a chance to dig into rules and weights…

then… Lonnie dropped a bomb that NHRA will have a Lucas Oil class for 8.60 index racers. No delay box. No throttle stop. No min weight.

That certainly might sway me away from jumping into the pit of deep wallet racers and into the chance for a national championship Wally chase.

Lots of folks to chat with tomorrow. Hopefully get some good answers.

Seeing a lot of pics on FB, looks like a good turnout.

Maybe next year I need to see who else is going that I'm friends with and make it out again. I've been before...

Maybe drag your sled out to LS Fest, it's still awesome.

I felt it is a really good turn out. Like 2019 or better.

LS Fest is on my calendar for 2023. Not sure what class. Likely Stock Block Shootout.

Oh are you running a stock block? The NMCA class used to have a weight deduction for stock block, is it still in there? If you are still at PRI, look for Jason Terrell or one of the guys at TSR they build that orange 2nd gen for a customer and it had a stock block and they went 4.60's.

I had to leave early yesterday, so I didn’t get to reach out to anyone else. i don’t believe there is a weight break anymore for stock block.

I do remember reading about that 2nd gen going fast on a stock block.

there are a number of really fast stock block combos out there, but most of them are not a “rules based” build. The ones that are, are quite impressive and give me hope that I can get this thing down the track pretty quick.

Atco opens in March… I may get anxious and head south before that for some testing.

I decided to change up my fuel pump mounting and that required to move the alternator as well…

Motion Raceworks fuel pump bracket. Works fine with a motor plate.

Warspeed Driver side alternator mount. Doesn’t work well with a motor plate, but with a bit of parts from 4-5 different alternator mounting systems I’ve purchased over the years, I was able to get it in place.

Of course, this required redoing my steering shaft assembly. Had to put an intermediate joint in it and a support bearing. Because, nothing is easy…

Must have been fun redoing the steering shaft.

I was talking to Manna last week and we debated a little if he were to run Xstreme Street. Would have to add alot of weight. My feeling is he will run X275 again this year, he did crack off a personal best of 4.20 last year and maybe with a converter adjustment he can get into the teens.

Yeh, the weight difference between X and Ultra/Extreme is rather, well… extreme…

X is 88mm and about 3000lbs or so..

Ultra/Extreme is 76mm and 3200lbs or so…

depending on a few little things…

It’s too bad NMCA doesn’t have a full time X275 class. I’d be happy bolting on an 88 and 200lbs to get beat up there vs bolting on 400lbs and keeping what I’ve got.
I’m struggling with the idea of bolting 400lbs to my chassis. I’m sure others do it, but it just seems sketchy to me.

I’m gonna get beat up in either class…

How about Cecil?

Their Strange Engineering Outlaw Street Car Shootout series has some relevant classes for you:

Pro 275 (relevant if you ran a 98mm hehe)
X275
Ultra Street

Yeh. Cecil is close. I’ve been going to their outlaw street car shootout for years.

first things first. Get it running and see what kind of ET it runs.
