Well if at this point you are dead set on using a T4 turbo, get a good brand one and the biggest one you can, you are afterall running a 370. How the truck works 0-30 mph will be not only based on the turbo selected but the torque converter.

I agree, the torque converter will be a 3500ish stall from circle D 258mm with triple disk lock up.

Sounds promising. My recollection is the 258mm is a little tight, have you asked Pete Nichols over there at CD? Do they also call that the 3C?

Context dude... He didn't' have a 370 cube motor for starters. And I hadn't ever run 78/75 in 2017. Even then, I still suggested a T6 S475 if he was worried about response. I clearly don't' have anything against a 78/75... I run a pair of them on my car. What I said is it's not the right/best turbo for the goal listed... for the $.

Boost at part throttle. My real street cars don't have a 1/4 mile of road with no cars. There are no 2 steps, T-brakes, loose converters, or light weight (3300lb is light), or 7500 rpms to make power. What I build drives like an OEM would have made it. It's about low rpm transient response and all the torque at low rpm. Spinning aint winning, I get it. But I want what an OEM would have built, just more. It's a Hell Cat in turbo form. That is fun TO ME.
When did what YOU want and what YOU build come into play? To YOU it’s about low rpm transient response and low RPM TQ. What does that have to do with the OP’s goal? That sounds like a VERY specific thing tailored to YOUR very specific needs.

A to B is what most people want. Whether that’s for 1/8th of a mile or 330ft… whether it’s from a stop, or a 60 roll… Doesn’t matter. Dont think the OP is “transient response racing”! He wants to race his friend, It’s already been stated. A torque converter takes care of transient response, that’s its job. This isn’t a manual car, and its not a 600hp small bore burnout car. If you want 800-1000 crank+ on a 370, A 78/75 is the wrong choice. Feel free to disagree.

And for the record Stock48 didn’t run a radical cam, converter, 2-step, trans brake, or rev to 7500. It was an SBE, factory head, w a baby cam. It was as “street car” as it gets for a 800ish whp turbo LS. And when he went to S476 with the 87/96 wheel, the car picked up a TON. Talking an easy 100hp difference maxed out.

The question isn’t if the 78/75 can run. The question is does it run better than the T4 S400 chassis stuff at a similar price. IDK about the VSR S400 versions with the T4’s. I ran genuine Borg tubos. So did LS1curt, Stock48, and most other guys I know that ran well with the cheap T4 S475 stuff. There are some killer T4 units out there If you want to spend big money. I never said you can’t go fast with a T4. The point I made was… if you aren’t class limited, why bottleneck yourself with one. Anyway you look at the wheel size and housing is your bottle neck. So if you want a T4 flange, get the biggest housing and wheel in one that you can afford.

Personally Id go with this unit if you are on a budget. Might ask too. They use to have a S476 with this wheel option and it would spool more quickly.

If you are afraid of the 80mm… They have a S475 T4 with an 87/82mm exh wheel option. All 3 would be much better than the 78/75 IMO.

You act like evryone drives around at WOT all the time and transients dont matter which is obviously nonsense. Ever heard of a turn? Goodness it's not that hard.
I don't recall ever talking about a cam on stock 4.8s setup or what his weight was. Plenty of calculators out there for hp weight and ET, but it still doesn't make it fun to drive at anything other than WOT. Stalled auto big turbo lightweight. I'm sure it's fun for some, just not for EVERYONE. Every time you point out what is fun to ME, welcome to pot meet kettle.

Whatever you say man… You’re ridiculous! It’s not a freek’n autocross application! It’s 1970 C10 full size truck, LOL! He wants to use for hauling crap and racing his buds 600HP Chevelle. Read his post! Because you chose a 78/75 doesn’t make it the best option for everyone! Try some other turbos, get some experience and report back.

Pot meet kettle. Open your mind a bit and report back. Not everything is a fast and furious straight line. But you keep pushing your opinion on everyone and crapping on others.

I have personally used the vsr 80mm forcefed linked then swapped back to a huron speed 7875 and went faster at the same boost levels. The 7875 was without doubt a better street car setup. The 80mm had lower IATs but for a street vehicle I'd use the 7875.

I ran that same turbo on those same cubes and it was easily the best turbo car Ive ever been in, which includes big turbo 1000hp cars.
