Wastegate Size and Location I am looking for suggestions on wastegate size and location. I am using the Hooker LS turbo manifolds and I was not sure if I would be able to use 2 wastegates or if one would be sufficient.. I am hoping for 550-650 whp. I currently have a 44mm wastegate and I was told I may see turbo creep with using only one of these.
The build is:
Lq4 rings gapped 30/28
317 heads with Trick flow springs matched cam
Summit 8706 cam 226/230 @ .050 .600/.575 lift

Injector dynamics 1050.34.14.15.8 injectors

If your placement is good, you might be able to get away with it. You can start with it. I would try to put a sweeping 90, or a straight pipe on like a 45* right below where the turbo mounts, and see if you have creep. If you do, you can add a second gate, before the 90* turn, from the driver's side as the pipe heads towards the passenger side.

You have about the same setup as mine, I used the 50mm gate, but have used a 44 no problem. I mounted the gate right where I come out of the Holley manifold, as it curved up to the turbo. Just try and mount it so the exhaust flow would enter it, kind of unrestricted, rather than like a 90 deg angle.
Do you already have the turbo? If not take a look at the beating a dead horse thread just below this one. Good information on turbo sizing and I posted about that turbo in particular not doing very well compared to a couple other turbos.

Thank you all for the posts, once I get the engine back in I will post pics as i also need to figure out where to place O2 sensors and Wideband and I know it will be easier seeing the pics
