first Procharger build question??????
Well where do I first start off.
My current set up on my 01 Camaro is H/C/I stock bottom end LS-1. during this summer I have a project that i will be putting in a 408ci iron block and switch everything over that I currently have on the top end. my question is by the end of the year I would like to put a Procharger in the vehicle but I dont have the slightest clue if my Cam and Heads would support it? would I have to but new heads and cam?
Fast 102mm intake
Current Heads 243 Port and Polished
Cam- custom grind (dont know the specs)
3800 Yank stall converter
390 gears factory 10 bolt
like i said anything would help me
thank you for any comments you made and thanks for taking the time to read this

Would it work? Probably.
Would it be ideal? Probably not.
The heads and intake will most likely be fine as long as they aren't milled heavily. Do you know what your compression ratio will be with the new 408 and the heads you currently have? What fuel do you plan to run with the new combo?
Probably best to get a custom cam for the new combo to get the most out of it.
The converter and gear probably isn't going to be ideal with the bigger boosted motor either.

okay thank you for commenting
everywhere I read the beat ratio for going boost/nitrous is .50 so that probably what Im going to do..Im not going be running crazy boost.. maybe 7-10 just to get me around 800-850 to the wheels maybe.
The .50 compression ratio was surely a typo so I'm not really sure what you meant there. The best compression ratio is going to depend upon other factors especially the fuel type being used. Making 800+ rwhp with only 7-10 lbs of boost will take a very efficient motor which is highly unlikely using your current cam/heads on a 408. Which procharger are you planning to use?

I would upgrade the cylinder the heads, intake and cam. I went with the GM CNC ported LS3 heads. I got them on rebate $1500 a pair. Then upgraded the valve train. You can sell the motor you have complete intake to pan. Youre going to need plenty of other upgrades too. Fuel system, injectors, converter, trans., diff., etc.

The cam and converter would be my biggest concerns with your new combo. That converter might be way to "loose" and stall too high with the added cubic inches and a blower. It might stall well over 4000 with the 408. The rear gear is also too much for the blown 408 also.
An optimized setup makes all the difference. Throwing parts together that don't work well together are going to leave you disappointed, but it sounds like you will need to learn that on your own.
I think he is saying upgrade from your current ported 243's and cam with unknown specs. Your heads and intake are probably fine to swap over to the 408 as long as they aren't heavily milled which could cause head gasket sealing issues with boost. I'd definitely upgrade from that cam to something specific for a centrifugal supercharger and the 408 cubic inches. I'd also call your favorite converter company and have them spec you a converter for the new combo.

When it comes to boosting and would like to expand on my knowledge when it comes to it.. I guess my biggest concerns are forged internals and the best set up when it comes to boosting
