Default Term X fuel pump trigger

Anyone using the fuel pump power from a Term X to trigger multiple relays to power 2 or more fuel pumps? In my case i have twin 525s in the small cell and would like to power two relays to run both pump simultaneously without using a second trigger from the termx or hobbs switch. According to Holley the only way to power the activation side of a relay is to use another trigger or purchase a $1500 fuel pump. I"m pretty sure the trigger side of two relays wont draw 10 amps.

How are you guys doing it or have done it.

I called Holley multiple times to see if I can get tech on the phone but hours on hold to get one person and not answering my question.

Following.

I am wiring in my terminator x and this is one of my big questions.

I did the twin racetronix with intermediate harness and am not sure how I want to go.

I was thinking I could get away with both on a single 40 amp relay triggered by the green wire.

I think that green wire already comes from a relay, as I remember that relay might also feed the injs or coils??? I use the green wire to trigger a relay for my pri. pump, and an output to trigger the second pump. I didn't want to load up too much from the green wire, esp if it was on other circuits, although Holley claims it can direct feed a pump, which would def require more than a few relays would ever use, lol..

Why would you want to run twin 525s simultaneously and not use a secondary trigger? Am I reading that correctly, that you want to just run twin 525s continuously full time?

Yes continuous. Not a street car so its start, line up and go. Tx only has 4 outputs and don't want to burn one up on a secondary trigger, also want to avoid a hobbs switch.

Forced you are correct it is shared with injectors and coils from their diagram.

I know this is trivial but id rather ask a dumb trivial question than burn up an ecu if I don't have to.

I mean if you're worried about limited outputs why not put it on a switch?

I don't see why it can't trigger 2 relays. As you said, it probably won't even be 10amps on the draw. You could also just trigger the second relay off of the 1st relay I suppose, and then you would only be using the signal off of 1 relay, right?
I'd prefer to have the 2nd pump on a Hobbs switch, but I'm just trying to answer your direct question.

Yes Ive actually thought of that too. What has me baffled is why holley said no to powering two relays (signal) off the an output that as per them can power a 10 amp fuel pump...? I might just bend to the hobbs switch idea but I don't like that it becomes a potential failure point. It is better than a switch that I will most certainly forget to turn on.

In that case then just use that fuel pump wire to trigger a set of relays for your fuel pumps, you can certainly trigger more than one relay with that single output as the current draw is next to nothing on the low side of a relay.

ha that's why I'm so confused as to why Holley said don't do that. It makes zero sense that you cant trigger 2 relays that would probably draw 1.5 amps combined?

I thought if I ask here someone may have gone through this as to why or have back door knowledge as to why not to do it.

The whole point of a relay is that the trigger coil pulls very little current. You can trigger a significant number of relays on the green wire before anything will become a problem.
Either the guy at holley misunderstood your question or doesn’t understand how relays work.

A typical 20-30 amp relay only draws around 150-200 mA on the low side. I'm not surprised about Holley tech support being confused, they generally read from a script and don't have any basic electronics knowledge.

Yeah there was a script of sort, an up sale to one VR pump so I only need to use one trigger.

Yeah, you won't have any issues at all. I run a main fuel pump with a radium surge tank with an additional 3 fuel pumps in it. The green wire supplies two relays to turn on the intank pump and one of the surge tank pumps. The other two pumps come on through a hobbs switch. Needed the outputs to control fans and mac valves.

We ran 2 525's in a 5 gallon fuel cell and it cooked the pumps and fuel letting the car idle for a long time. After replacing the pumps use holley to turn on second pump above 5psi and never had another issue.
