The Turbo TA is BACK!
Well I was going to go get the car this weekend, but I ended up sick as ****. Instead of spreading the plague, I am going to just go next Saturday to get it now.
Anyway since we all have to wait another week, I figured I may as well throw up some pics to hold us all over.

Well that's all for now, probably wont post any more until I have it back at home

The time has finally come, time to pick up my car! Friday night I rushed home and got the truck loaded, trailer hooked up, all ready to go early Saturday morning.

I got up around 4:30 the next morning, and headed to the southside to pick up Lou. The drive out was pretty uneventful, just lots of construction. We got there around 10:30 so we made decent time. Anyway, lets see the car

Time to load her up! I actually expected this to go much worse. but with some race ramps extending my trailers ramps it went fine.

Front straps are crossed because if they were straight the ends were digging into the bumper.

I didn't want to destroy the powder on the rear end immediately which is why we didn't clip to those tie downs. I will be adding some points to the chassis as well.
The drive back was fine. We got some rain a handful of time, and some heavy traffic in the construction zones. I got Lou dropped back off a home, and headed up to my buddy Rodgers shop so his neighbor could look at painting the cage. It started raining pretty decent when I got there, so Rodger was gracious enough to let me park the whole rig in his shop while I make some decisions.

That is where the journey ended yesterday, and now I have some decisions to make. Unfortunately there was a lot of stuff that wasn't done on the car when I went to pick it up. Most of it is pretty minor, and I should be able to handle it all myself. The main thing right now is to get the chassis painted ASAP. The plan is to paint it with Steel It, which is weldable and touches up very nice. No matter what I do, I will end up having to do some grinding and touch ups on it. The longer I wait the more it will all rust though, so I am going to paint it very soon. I will probably finish the steering first at a minimum, for some reason that wasn't done. At some point I will also need to get some paint work done on the outside, and a full detail. She is looking a little rough these days.
So next steps are to take it all back apart, finish the steering and get the chassis painted. While I am taking it apart I will try and figure out what I need to get ordered or made to finish up the chassis. All in all I am glad to have it back, but its going to take a bit longer than expected to get it back on track.

Welp I wasn't going to have any more updates but I decided to pick it back up from Rodger.

It was a ************, but got it in the garage up on the lift

Since is up on the lift, lets take a bit of a tour under it

ARB

You can see the wishbone a bit. Also keep in mine the car is sitting high

Better shot of it

The mystery steering shaft

I started pulling some of the panels off, but I gave up pretty quick. I will get it apart this week, and get it dropped off for paint ASAP.

Well I am bored at work, so small update time. I have been pulling everything apart to get it ready for paint (just the cage) next week. What a fun journey its been.
Just random pic of the passenger side carbon

Whats that though?

Oh, just a burn in my carbon dash.
I tried to pull the driveshaft, and it wasn't budging. I thought it was just stuck in the pinion. When I finally moved my ATV, I could see the issue.

Anyway, got all the carbon out except the tubs

The windshield was a LOT heavier than I thought. I may end up changing it to a thinner version, which means I may have to brace the center. I'm not sure on that yet.
Digging through the boxes, I found the missing steering piece, all ready to be welded.

So once I get the motor out I will get that taken care of.
Just some miscellaneous pics.

Not sure what to do about the holes in the 4-link brackets that are just open. Maybe I will do carbon tin on the front side of the tubs which will basically cover that whole area.

Well, that's all for now. I need to drop the rear end down so I can get the driveshaft out, and the tubs. Then I can get the engine and trans out and its ready to go to paint. When I get it back I can start on all of the finish work like seat belt tabs, and closing off everything. I need to decide what areas I want to be easily accessible (dzus fasteners) VS removable but more difficult (button head screws) VS permanent (riveted in place). Never really done any of that stuff before, so that should be fun

Well I finished getting the car stripped down and dropped off today.
Had to basically take the rear end out to get the driveshaft and tubs out

So empty, but so crazy looking

Then got the trans pulled out

Had to get creative to get the engine out since it was backed onto the lift

Only slightly sketchy

All safe and sound
Pulled the intercooler and radiator next

All stripped down and ready to go!

Loaded and ready to go

Safe and sound at my buddies shop next door to the place that is going to paint the cage.

That's all, pretty boring. Maybe I will give the engine a once over while the car is gone, maybe not.

Yeah that is for weight reduction and was done by @Sideways240sx way back in the day. He didn't want to cut that outer material completely off, he was worried about the fenders sagging. I will be cutting that all off completely now that its my car, and the engine bay bars are all tied into everything.
SHEWWW BUDDY!! We got some paint on the chassis and it looks GOOD!

The paint is Steel It in black if anyone is wondering. I know it was a massive pain in the *** to do, but it came out great!!
