Default Huronspeed top mount alternator users, in here

Okay, I have a simple question - In relocating your alternator up top using their brackets, how the hell did you get it to work with the big factory vented cover on the F-body alternator? I just tried to install mine, and it 100% will not fit with the plastic cover installed. I'm using a Powermaster alternator which is identical to stock except for output. Do I need to get a different alternator? I've seen numerous pics of the F-body alternator mounted up top, but of course there's not a single one taken from the back so I can see what was done with the plastic cover. I'm not going to run it without a cover, and it seems the only way for it to work is to fully cut off the vent portion of the cover. However, if there's another cover that may fit, I'd love to know about it.

When plastic gets in my way, I cut the plastic OUT of my way.

You have to pull the plastic piece off.
A truck alternator will fit as well but the throttle is very close and if you still have CC setup it can get caught on the case causing the throttle to hang open.
Ask me how I know.

I ended up using a dremel with a cut off wheel to excise the long "vent" portion of the cover and it fit perfectly afterward. I'm calling it good.

It'll be fine.
I had to add a brace at the bottom of mine because the supplied bracket would flex, also added a manual tensioner because the belt would squeak.

I'm already finding that the bracket flexes, and I'm lucky to already have a Katech tensioner so that's solved at least. Do you have a pic of the brace you added? Also, the pulley on my tensioner is ribbed, but it's riding against the smooth side of the belt. I don't think it will be an issue, but do you have yours set up differently?

If you look right below the alt pulley, you'll see the little bracket.
It's just some flat stock bent into 90's with holes for the bolt to go through connected by some solid round stock and bolts to the water pump.
Cured my flex issues.
I swapped out the pulley for a smooth one.

Thanks, I bought some flat stock today to make a bracket. I was already eyeing those tabs on the water pump.

Then just find a smooth pulley to replace the ribbed one, I ordered a bunch from Amazon to try because they have free returns lol.

I have my old idler pulley that appears to be the same size, I'll try that first.
