Default Thoughts on this turbo?

Can anyone guess if it spools better and/or makes more power than a billet VS Next Gen 7875? Also does anybody know if its physically bigger? I don't have space for a bigger diameter cold side unless I change some stuff up.

Looks like a copy of the Garrett 7975g with journal bearings. "Pulsar" turbos have a 7875 with a "compact" compressor cover. If I could get that on this turbo I think I'm in business. I want a journal bearing for sure.

Pulsar version with compact cover:

I'm 99% sure those come out of the same factory in China...

Here's a variant with a smaller compressor side, 7375g. Thought of Rel3rd and wondered if this is the ultimate LS tire fryer on the street. Again, I would want a journal bearing if I could find such a beast

I went ahead and ordered the turbo in my original post. Seems to check all the boxes for me. From what I can gather its pretty much exactly the same on the turbine side as the VS Next Gen and Gen 3 7875 turbos. Compressor side should flow the same or a little more and spool faster. The biggest selling point to me is its vbanded together. Its usually easier to deal with installing and removing in my experience. Anyhow, I will report back after its installed. Will be a few weeks maybe a month.

Why is that? Pro’s vs. Con’s of each? Just trying to learn.

I just replaced a 7875 with one. I haven’t been able to turn it up yet but it seems to spool just as fast or faster than the 7875. Doesn’t make any turbine noise though :/

Mainly because ball bearing uses less oil, not a bad thing but then they usually need water cooled. I just didn't want the added complexity.

T5 is actually a size. It’s a mid-frame turbo that uses a T6 flange. For a few years I had a precision 8891 (Garrett turbo) that was classified as a “ T5”.

I actually discovered that if you back out the speed sensor port plug it makes the compressor loud just like a t51r. Still isn’t like my 7875 with the 10 blade turbine. It sounded like a jet out of boost.

thats pretty cool, i bet this one is close in size to what you had minus the flange.

Ive got this exact turbo going on a 416 with a 1.44 ar T4 that i jokingly call a t5. Should be fun especially with a t56

Not true, tons of guys running ball bearing turbos without water cooling without issue.

I just know it can help with coking issues. If they are getting away with it thats cool. My understanding is journal bearing works just fine in our typical LS applications. Not going to matter much on the street. So I wanted to KISS.
