I saw "5.3" and "record" and knew it was Capizzi before I even clicked the thread

Seriously impressive. I wonder how much the car weighs.

Interesting they say it's still a streetcar with hydraulic lifters and stock rockers. Anyone know specifically what lifters he is using to spin over 9000 rpm?

I'm sure it's a Johnson or Isky tiebar lifter. That's the only thing that will hang in there at that rpm.

Just curious if it was an off the shelf lifter or anything custom.

I saw that too. Leaves at 5000 and 20lbs.
Later I watched him and the others qualifying for that race. Gads his car is violent staging.

Big hitters in that class. One ran a 3.66 I believe.

Is he in X275 ?

I saw Justin Martin in LDR went 3.8x at over 3300 lbs on dot tires. All of those radial prep classes are crazy fast. I think the record for radial vs the world is down in the 3.4x range now but I haven't watched them for a bit so maybe it's even lower now LOL

I don’t personally care if it’s a street car or not still the stock block record.

here in iowa we don’t require vehicle inspections and we can run pretty rowdy setups and loud exhausts rhe cops don’t care. We do require plates with up to date tags though. Since all those guys say these are street cars and made fun of people that would claim otherwise in that video do other states not require license plates or up to date tags? I noticed none of them had plates and up to date tags so now I’m curious what states don’t require license plates with current registration stickers?

Don't believe its anything exotic or tie bar lifters. Last I had heard on the 8400rpm combo it was short travel Johnson lifters. Believe the "secret" was in the cam lobes. Don't claim to know for sure but some companies have been using super mild low lazy ramp rate marine lobes that are gentle on the valvetrain, even at high rpm. Would be curious to know if that's what Baker is doing as well.

John's buddies with him, right? Bet he could find out for us!

Jon has long time partnered with TJ Grimes (Baker Engineering, Nunica MI) for cam grinds, tech and tuning support).

Jon will share some general comments about cam grinds but ultimately he'll suggest people contact TJ if they want to order a cam, or you could order a cam from Jon I think. Even my current cam (from them) was described as soft lobe, it's a copy of the street car cam he ran about 5 years ago.

Right on, yea Wasn't poking for proprietary cam information. I meant he prob wouldn't mind sharing what lifters he was using is all.

I could ask him, probably Johnsons like y'all said.

Also about this car, he might be running hoops and different head gaskets. He is putting 48-55 lbs of boost through that engine.

I'd be interested in what head gaskets he is using and if he is using "top fuel" hoops. He said water in the block but didn't mention if it was half fill or if the heads were dry decked.

I'm not looking to do what he is doing but learn for my next build. So, all of my questions would be:

1. Head sealing. Gaskets? Head stud type? Top fuel hoops? Dry decked?

2. What lifters for 9000 RPM although I'm only looking for 8000.
