Boosting 11.5CR 416 stroker
I recently purchased a car with a ls3 based 416 stroker.
LME built motor, Callie’s crank and rods, forged Weiscos, big PRC heads it’s allegedly in the neighborhood of 600+. The paperwork with the motor says actual cam lift is .638/.629. 11.5:1 compression
Im curious on everyone’s thoughts on running it on pump gas as to how much boost it’d handle. I’d probably opt for a cam change in the process as well. It’s got a custom harness on the gm ecu but I’m looking to switch it to a Holley dominator
Tune will need to be dialed in,
meth injection would be a great idea,
e85 would be better,
Pulling the heads and softening the chambers, as well as verifying the head gasket would be on the short list too.
I'd buy E85 by the barrel and switch my fuel system over to that.
I'm in a similar boat in that there is no E85 where I live and I want to make more power than pump gas can safely provide.
A 55gal. drum of E85 is less than $600 and would last quite a while.
If you're moving to a Holley, you could always go flex fuel which is my plan except with a factory PCM.
Set it up so it only makes 4-5 lbs. on pump gas but as much as you afford with 50% E and up.
Keep a 55-gal drum in the garage, if you're out and about and get low and can't find E then pump gas will get you around still.
Plus, you can easily pickle the fuel system if storing the car for long periods of time.
This is also my plan lol.
It appears that it mixed with E85 works.
Mixing 40% methanol w pump E85. Interesting results! - LS1TECH - Camaro and Firebird Forum Discussion

. Hell NO....... Might live on E85.... Live longer on straight METHANOL.
You'd have better luck pushing manifold pressure and TUNING a STOCK MOTOR.
Save that stroker for Later- after you practice/learn a bit.
