I think re-sleeving takes it out of stock block. 20 years ago I had a re-sleeved LS1 block and made a 427 out of it making 1200 rwhp which was a lot back then.

We can pontificate all we want as to what constitutes a “stock block”. But, if the rules of a certain class allow for modifications, then so be it.

regardless of modifications, 4.06 is badass.

I agree 1000% a 4.06 in FAST with any kind of LS variation.

I thought he was running the ls v12 engine now?
Also would you consider steve morris blocks with the super billet deck a stock block?

No it's a LC9 based sleeved block, I've read it's now a 400ci shortblock. He has LS7 style Frankenstein heads on it.

I don't consider Steve Morris' mods to a stock block to be in the spirit of a stock block. For the money it makes more sense to go aftermarket or LSX. I heard $8K, is that for a bare block? You are $3K away from a Noonan billet block.

beater bomb has a video on YouTube he posted 2 weeks ago thats titled first pass with the v12 ls and giant wing. Steve's base block before any added items is like 3450 and the super billet deck is a 2500 upgrade. I was looking at them the other day for ***** and giggles and yeh the price adds up quickly and I definitely dont consider it stock either. I guess they say stock block if its a gm production block, regardless of upgraded.

Beater was trolling.

He reached out to me via FB the day before he posted the slip, he asked me what info I needed for the list and we got to chatting a bit.

He'll try to get into the 3s with the current setup. He's got the power and car is light.

I’d be curious what the bottom end assembly looks like both before and after say 20 passes.

See what’s moving around etc.

That was the problem with my sleeved ls1 block, it flexed and moved around alot but ls1 blocks weren't that great to start with.

I added a stock block tab today, I note the sleeved entries.

I've heard around 1200-1300 the stock crank flexes.

At what power level was that happening?
I've got a rod/piston LS1 making about 900whp so this makes me curious.

Apparently Capizzi himself said Joey’s combo counts and congratulated him on taking the stock block record.

kind of like cam only it goes without saying that a lot more than just a cam is allowed. stock block allows a lot of things as long as you are starting with an oem block not an aftermarket block.

True… Cam only. Likely also lifters, pushrods, springs… maybe a timing chain setup. But still considered “cam only”.

Sleeving LS blocks has been a thing since the early days of the scene, but in the old days they would drop and didn't hold up.

I'm running a factory block, crank and heads so it's basically stock.

FWIW and from what I've read and heard on his videos... its a 427" not a 400" built by Maschmeier Performance Engines. No reason not to go to 427 bore when you put those sleeves in I can think of. I wonder what a sleeve setup like that costs vs an aftermarket LSX block. Is it more? or less? Hell of an accomplishment either way... Did they say if he was on a nitro mix that pass?
